I, too, was sucked in by the Friendspam Vortex. I have absolutely no method and am eminently suggestible for reading material. Well, then, help yourself to coffee, cigarettes and chocolate, and let's get started.

I just noticed that we don't read the same things, except each other's poetry.....well, hey, at least we've got that part right.

You're never on.... And your name is misleading. You don't wear a hat. Just a "heads-up".

I just started reading my first "Aggie", and I noticed you gave "And Then There Were None" 4 stars. Looks like I hit the ground running.

I can certainly relate to not wanting to spoil a good thing. After all most movies do not live up to a book that gone to film. I love the TV series; in fact, taped them all when it was on US TV. But that was my first experience with Lovejoy. I have a friend here that was also totally hooked. But there is not question that they sanitized his character. He was a loveable sort. Still the man skirting the edge of the law, and he was an attractive crook with whom one sided. I also lived in England for three years, and it was a visit back every time I watched.

I tried reading a couple of the books and he was not particularly likeable in those so I quit reading them.

I just finished a book I could not put down that was set in the Australian Tanami Desert. It is a story of murder, love, and survival. Hannah Nyala, the author, is a talented storyteller. I highly recommend. Have you been to this place? Nyala is gifted in creating a sense of place and in her descriptions of the land.

I just finished The Speckled Monster - historical fictionalization (interesting and surprising) about the beginning of inoculation for small pox in the U.S. Worth a read if you like fictionalized history.

I was lead here from Teak's shelves, and your name. You are the first I have visited that has J. Gash. I have only read a couple, b/c I was/am addicted to the Lovejoy series of Brit TV, and the character is so different. Those were my introduction to the man. Have you seen the series, and what do think of the two, if so?

Hey, Poet- have your read any of the Series of Unfortunate events? I DO think you would enjoy them- quite lyrical and dark with many quirks, double meanings and allusions. It's kids' lit (of course) but try it-- you might like it...

My Dad read Jonathan Livingston Seagull outloud to me when I was 8 - I didn't get it, (then) but it's one of my favorite memories.

    Hi, Stranger,

Guess we'll have to settle for bumps in the night. We were walking on a beach near Half Moon Bay, California and someone had left this fantastic sand sculpture. Look closely and there is another surprise.....
