i LOVED krauss' "the history of love," which is why i picked this up. it was pretty good, but it didn't live up to my expectations.

this is the best self-help book i've ever read. ok, the only self-help book i've been able to tolerate long enough to actually finish. but still.

yes, this book changed my life. just because it's a cliche doesn't mean it isn't true. i think the greatest compliment i can give this book is that i've given away at least three copies of it. actually, i need to get another copy for myself and re-read it.

i love stephen king, and i think this is my favorite stephen king book. i read this for the first time when i was young, and the characters really drew me in to their world.

i also think this book might be the reason i ended up being so fond of post-apocalyptic stories.

i can't figure out which passages made people pass out and vomit during readings -- palahniuk must be amazing at doing readings to get the buzz he got.

i really liked the concept of the book but was disappointed with the execution. parts of the book are clever. (which pretty much sums up how i feel about all the palahniuk books i've read.)

i never thought descriptions of cannabalism and self-mutilation could become so repetitive and boring! i was like "ho hum, he chopped off his penis -- is this book over yet?"

    love a good zombie story!

i liked that the ending left you hanging a bit, because it is unusual for stephen king to do that. as someone who has read almost all of his many books, i generally think his endings are his biggest weakness and many of them have a very similar quality about them. i liked that he went in a bit of a different direction with the ending of "cell."

i loved the first part of this book and then it suddenly started to bore the heck out of me. i put it down and haven't gotten around to finishing it yet.
