I really dig the pig!
I LOVED Saving CeeCee Honeycutt!
I completely understand why you gave up.
Yes, I can see how that would be a problem. I didn't really notice anything terminology-wise. Of course this is hardly surprising considering I'm not British. Even though I'm pretty familiar with British terms (I spent some time in university studying in England and my family is all originally from the British Isles so there are some British expressions I'm quite familiar with), I'm obviously more familiar with North American terminology so wouldn't necessarily notice the non-Britishness of something. The spelling, however, did not escape my notice since we Canadians spell correctly *ha ha* Since a lot of books published in Canada come from the States I'm pretty used to the lack of the letter "u" in certain words, but I still find it distracting. Wherever possible, I buy UK editions of books, especially if the author is from the UK. I want to read a story as the author intended, not as they have been edited to suit a non-UK audience. I'd definitely say it was a good thing you got a deal on the book :-) I was going to ask if London had returned to normal now that the Olympics are over, but I guess everyone is gearing up for the Para-Olympics.
PigletoI saw you rated The Rook only one star. Oh no, I loved this book when I read it a few months ago. I'd love to hear your thoughts though. thankserin
Hi! I see you're currently reading The Rook. I read it earlier this year and liked it. I'll be interested to know what you think once you finish.
Fun that you liked Midnight Riot! I just finished the third in that series (which I liked a lot better than the second). Just picked up Gillespie and I from my library after seeing it on your favorites shelf.
Hi! Have you been to any of the Olympic events? Team GB is doing phenomenal. It's nice to see the home team win so many medals, especially golds! We experienced that wonderful gold rush feeling with the Vancouver Winter Games.
If you do see it in the future, you can remove!
Hi Pigletto,Just a heads up, that I have had to slightly edit your title change request for http://www.shelfari.com/books/137754/The-Wicker-Man-A-Novel as we don't place "a novel" in the subtitle section. Please see the editing guidelines here http://www.shelfari.com/groups/59851/discussions/252919/5--Title-Subtitle-Change-Edit-Requests?showall=true#5050530Thanks!Starwolvie
Hey,I just thought I should let you know that I have had to slightly edit some of your title request changes for collective works. A "/" should be used to separate the titles. Please see here: http://www.shelfari.com/books/23615425/Driving-Blind-Something-Wicked-This-Way-Comes-A-Memory-of-Murder for an example of how it should look.If you have any questions, please let me knowThanks!Starwolvie
Yeah I'm on page 60 or so and am not sure entirely what the author is talking about. All I know is there is a carnival in town. It's very hard to follow what he is saying. I have to no clue most of the time. I'm going to finish it though.
That's funny you are reading Something Wicked This Way Comes. I requested it from my library a couple of days ago. I can't wait to get it. I'm a huge fan of Josh Gates and it's like his favorite book and it sounds really good. Be interested to know if you like it.
The notes can be tricky to find. I've missed several too. I agreed with your review on Tower of London book. I really enjoyed the characters and the situation but thought it could have used a good edit and re-write to get rid of the repetition and slow pacing. Glad to welcome you to Crossroads. We hope you enjoy it.
Nice to meet you :) I love your avatar and notice we share quite a few books on our shelves.
I love your new pic. Those micro pigs/teacup piggies are soooo cute!
I love your new picture! Just Darling!
I can understand the desire to stay indoors. I watched it on TV and it looked miserable. I'm not sure the rain would have bothered me all that much as a spectator, but I definitely wouldn't not have wanted to be on one of those boats! The Queen looked lovely, as did the entire Royal Family. I'll be watching the concert when it's on.
Hi! I notice you are in London. Are you going to take in any of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations?
I hope you are enjoying The Lace Reader. I love that book! Its been a couple years since I've read it. Salem is now on my" places to go see" list because of the way it was describe it in the book. Happy Reading!
