i had a very heavy uncomfortable feeling when I finished this book. Itprovides us which a shocking look into the activites of a school gang whose existence no one dares to admit. The book is about the violence and brutality that can occur when a gang is allowed to flourish within the school but worse, when they are used by a selfserving and maniacal teacher to teach one student who dared to go against traditon, a brutal lesson.

A brilliant but horrific book, which provides a lot of issues for discussion and a lot of food for thought. It has to be very carefuly taught in school.

I think this is an extraordinary and powerful novel. There are so many issues for a class to discuss. I can never look at a person with cerebral palsey in the same way again and makes you wonder, could it really be possible. Suitable for grades 8 upwards.

This was a great book. I enjoyed being part of laVaughn's world. The author has a very sensitive and real understanding of the mind of a young girl in love.
