Patti, did you like Armadale? I am reading it now and almost half thru. No spoilers! Just curious if you liked it.

Patti,I hope you like the Woman in White.I read it 2 years ago and now have a few other Collins books to read. A very good story, albeit frustrating with the women at times. But those were different times. Enjoy!

Hi Patti, I've been hearing so much about Sue Higginbotham, and want to read her so badly, but I am having no luck finding her books. There is not a single Higginbotham book in our entire county library system, and I have yet to find one in a book store--new or used. Looks like I may need to resort to Amazon ;-( Can't wait to hear what you have to say about your current read. Hope all is well in TX. Hot as blazes here in the East Bay. Summer was late to arrive, but it's here now! Darra

Hi Patty...I think I saw you in the Historical Fiction group. You were reading Anne Rice. You've been reading a lot of her lately! I read many of Vampire and Mayfair Witch Chronicles and enjoyed them. I haven't gotten around to reading the religious books, but I've heard they're good. What did you think of them?

Also, I see you're a fan of the classics and wanted to let you know we're reading Persuasion in "Who Doesn't Love a Classic" group.

    Hope all is well:)

The Devil In The White City is read by Scott Brick and is unabridged.
    ---------
I just finished 3 turn of the century "adventures" by Clive Cussler.
quite different from his other series (which I haven't read)....
Isaac Bell of the VanDorn detective agency is featured in The Chase,
    The Wrecker and The Spy....
Brick did the audios and I like his style...

    Hi Patti
Thanks for the response about The Devil In The White City.
I'm doing it on audio and it's very interesting.

Have you read Eiffel's tower and the World's Fair where Buffalo Bill beguiled Paris, the artists quarreled, and Thomas Edison became a count ?

I am not good at writing reviews either and rarely do formal ones. I do think the members will be interested. Thanks for doing that. I appreciate it.

I just read your review of The Virgin Widow! Wow I have to read this book. Are you a member of The Historical Fiction Group? We would love for you to post your review in the Reviews 2010 thread. I know several of our members would be interested to hear your thoughts of the book.

The book about the brothers has peaked my interest-ha! Wondering how you are soing. We are loving the fall weather, great cool nights for sleeping and windows open all day! It was such a hot, humid summer! I am reading about 3 books at one time and my oldest daughter brought 3 boxes on Sunday that did not get sold at a community garage sale! I had such fun going through them and now will take them to the community library here. I am addicted to books!! Hope you all are doing well, Kerrie

Hi Patti! Just stopping by to say hi! Had 2 granddaughters graduate this year and they are enrolled in college for the fall. All 3 of my grown granddaughters want to be teachers. How is your daughter doing? My youngest daughter is living with us at present and loves historical novels. She is really into Boleyn sisters, etc. Hope all is well with you and yours, hugs, Kerrie

    The Ancient One says

    ~ Morning Prayer ~

Let me today do something that shall take
A little sadness from the world's vast store,
And may I be so favored as to make
Of joy's too scanty sum a little more.

Let me not hurt, by any selfish deed
    Or thoughtless word, the heart of foe or friend;
Nor would I pass, unseeing, worthy need,
Or sin by silence when I should defend.

However meager be my worldly wealth
Let me give something that shall aid my kind,
A word of courage, or a thought of health,
Dropped as I pass for troubled hearts to find.

Let me tonight look back across the span
'Twixt dawn and dark, and to my conscience say -
Because of some good act to beast or man -
"The world is better that I lived today."
