Hi,I ended up finding on of the Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child books. It is called The book of the Dead. I have started reading and am on page 50, but I read in a review that it is part of a set. Should i wait and look for the other ones first or can I read them after this one? I also noticed that you have Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol on you shelf. What was your opinion of it? Thanks,

Hi, I have so many authors that I love. Daniel Silva is one of my favorites, start with The kill Artist. He also does a great job of weaving accurate history into his book. I have recently become addicted to Brian Haig. Private Sector and The President's Assassin are both very good, but Private Sector is my favorite of the two. I find the main character in his books to be hilarious. The main character is a Jag Lawyer but it is definitely a conspiracy/political theory. Vince Flynn is another one of my favorites who writes about an assassin that works for the CIA. I always buy his newest books Also The cleaner and The Deceived by Brett Battles are excellent. Then Rules of Deception by Christopher Reich was another one of my favorites. The sequel is coming out in August and I am already trying to bid on the copies that are on e-bay. Andrew Britton's The Invisible is also a really good thriller. He also wrote The American and The Assassin. The American is pretty good, but I haven't read The Assassin yet. And then there is always ludlum. I became addicted to his books after I read The Bourne Identity long before there was a movie. (The books is a thousand times better than the movie). The ludlum Bourne books are different and a lot better than the new ones by Eric Van Lustbader. I have read a lot of Ludlum's books, but I recently found some that I don't think I got around to reading. He died in 2001 so, unfortunately, there won't be any more of his books. I love David Baldacci. Split Second is one of my favorites of his and I do love the camel club series too! I have also read several books by Brad Meltzer and The Zero Game is also one of my favorites. I have never read anything by Lincoln Child or Douglas Preston, but I will look for them. I have been buying tons of books recently. I found a bunch of thrift stores that put the books 25% two days a week and 50% off on holidays so how can you avoid buying a lot of books since they are so cheap. The thrift store is called Value Village. I don't know if you have one near you. I am also bidding on a bunch of new hardbacks on ebay and trying to get them for a much cheaper price. I know there are more authors but I can't think of them at the moment, but I will let you know if I remember them or come across any new ones. Thanks,

Hi, I just finished reading The Alexandria Link and I loved it! I gave it five stars. When I was looking at the book, I was sure I'd like it. But after I started reading, I was hooked. So thank you for recommending it! If you hadn't, I don't think I would have ever read it. But now I am addicted and want the whole series: ) Let me know if you come across any other books that you enjoy. THANK YOU!

Hi, Tricia! I'm delighted to see you've included me in a new group. Things are especially busy right now, but I managed to read four new books last week, including two by James Patterson. I have to get my final retirement paperwork squared away next week, and I'm getting things lined up to be an independent engieering consultant. I'm also scheulded to play in a concert in Palatka on July 4. It will be interesting to see a small-town fireworks display as opposed to Orlando's super spectacular where my band has performed for the past seven years. Say "hi" to Stephanie C for me, and tell her I'll send an email soon. You might try including my friend Ed German (the white cat photo) in the group. Ed is as prolific a reader as me, and I believe he has already written some reviews. Keep in touch! I miss seeing my DEP friends and will always look forward for hearing from you.

Oh I'm glad you are interested! The Undeclared Wars book is for school. I am not finished with it yet, but I can tell you that so far it has described instances throughout history (even pre-civil war) of conflicts between Congress and the president concerning the declaration of war. Although Congress has the right to declare war and has the sole ability to financially support military units, the President as commander and chief must be able to act without congressional vote every time action is needed. Within these points are shady gray areas (limited war versus full scale war... limited engagements, peace keeping missions, humanitarian campaigns) It's really interesting to see the precedents current administrations are using to support their positions on foreign policy.

The Hemingses book is one I am reading actually on my own. In my undergrad I had an ongoing fight with one of my instructors over the relationship between Jefferson and Sally. So far it has fulfilled my expectations. I really like the author and plan on reading another of her books as soon as I get done with all this reading for school.

Dear Payton: I am a fellow author from Massachusetts. My debut novel HUNTING THE KING was published in April. If you enjoy reading a good thriller like DA VINCI CODE, you might like HUNTING. The novel revolves around a charismatic young woman named Molly O’Dwyer. Molly was five years old when she witnessed her mother die in a fire. She never knew her father. After her mother’s death, she was raised on the campus of a Jesuit college. Now an archaeologist, she has been recruited to participate on a dig in war torn Iraq. As a scientist she is compelled to discover whatever or whoever is buried under the sands of ancient Babylon. As an observant Catholic, she is scared that whatever she finds will have devastating consequences for her faith. There is a wonderful YouTube book trailer well worth watching if you have the chance. Peter

PS Best of wishes with your own writing career.

Thank you so much for replying! Is there a particular book by Steve Berry that I should start with? Is it better if you read them in order or does it not really matter? I noticed that you have The Bourne Identity on your list of books you plan to read. I loved that book! Robert Ludlum is one of my favorite authors. So you should definitely read that one. It is a million times better than the movie. The first three Bourne novels--The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and the Bourne Utimatum--are by Robert Ludlum and they are all excellent. I like the first and the third one the best. The Bourne Legacy, the Bourne Betrayal and the .Bourne Sanction are written by a different author. They are good as well, but not nearly as good as the first few. But I would read them in order. Also several months ago, someone recommended Daniel Silva books to me and I am now addicted to them. He wrote one about the vatican called The Confessor which was excellent. It is the third in the series I would start with The Kill Artist (another one of my favorite books) if you want to start at the beginning. Daniel Silva does an excellent of portraying Mossad and he does a great job of mixing history and current events. I also saw your review of the unauthorized biography of Barack OBama. Does the book discuss how presidential campaigns are financed? And also does it discuss when the party decided to support Obama over Clintion during the primaries?
