Oh, please let us know what you thought of Memoirs of Elizabeth Frankenstein!
Hi Bones ... I saw Nicola Barkers Darkmans (Daaaarrrkmaaannssssss) on your shelf sans review, what did you make of it?
Hi PawBones, thought I'd look you up, been meaning to for a while because I was wondering what happened about the BELF group. I hadn't contributed for a while because I just kept finding I wasn't keeping up with the group-reads, and I tend to hang-out a lot more on "What are you reading" and a couple of the other groups. It's a pity if all those discussions have been deleted :( In any case hope you've been keeping well.
Help! Somehow I've lost my link to the Best English-Language Fiction of the Twentieth Century group and my profile no longer shows me as a member. Please send me your link as I can't seem to track you down using the search engine. Thanks! Georgia
Hi Pawbones; I was one of the people to contact Dog Lover -- easy name to remember! I miss BELF -- It was my favorite group. I didn't comment much. (Some time ago one of the group members posted a note criticizing comments that were too simplistic...) However, I especially liked reading your comments, Dog Lovers' Flybutter's and Sid's. I read every book that you chose since the group began in 2009. I also copied the list and read many of the others. 100 books in 2010, more than I've ever read before. I'll check out the group that Dog Lover mentioned below.
Don't know why people remembered my member name but I have gotten several notes asking where the group went. I'm sorry that you deleted the group. I wish you had just posted about your concerns. Some groups go through dry spells. Some groups are very quiet. (I tend to be sorta quiet on book discussions.) I was using Belf to influence my reading plan. I would put the book you had selected from that long list if I hadn't already read it. Didn't you create a Community List for these books some time back? I thought you had but could be mistaken.I can understand your thinking, though. Hope you find other groups that are more dynamic. You might be interested in Bibliophile. They don't use a list but the admins nominate interesting books that, so far, with a couple of exceptions haven't been the tired old favorites or the newest best sellers. They have been books that were off my personal radar. Here is the link if you'd like to check it out - http://www.shelfari.com/groups/35185/aboutBest of luck to you and Flybutter.DL
What happened to the BELF group?DL
Thank you.
Thanks Friend
Thank you so much for the welcome-note!The group-shelf contains too many books which I've always wanted to read...Again, thank you for the note and I'm glad to be a member...
Thank you ! :)
Thank you for the welcome! I wish I had known about this site earlier- I love it. Can't wait to discuss books with you!
Thanks for a welcome!
Your avatar rocks!
Thank you very much! It really is perfectly easy to say, isn't it? Though it took me a few minutes of bewilderment to figure out what these BELF books that everyone was talking about were. Thanks again for welcoming me, the discussions appear very simulating and well-thought out.
Hey, thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to interacting with the group ...
Thank you 'Pawbones' for the warm welcomming :) can't wait to start participate with the group , it's really interesting ...
Thanks! :)
Thank you for the welcome. I heard there would be a discussion, at some point, on The Sound and the Fury, and I thought, "oh they're singing my song..." That the first page has discussions on Lolita, Beloved, The Sun Also Rises, To Kill a Mockinbird, and Owen Meany - well, I think I'll stay a while.
It feels like home. Thank you for the reception.
