Location, location. Born at the edge of a river in 1982. Shy, but somehow overly self-confident. Grew up in the sub-Arctic (that would be Yellowknife). Spent a year following bands in the UK and traveling to random European countries as part of a post-secondary “education.” Found an American girl that was good enough to marry. Journeyed to Morocco and Corsica with her before tying the knot in Reykjavik. Took in some cats and named one of them after a Finnish hockey player.

Currently?
Studying at the University of Ottawa with the goal of obtaining a Master’s degree in Human Kinetics. My focus area is the political economy of professional sports.

24 months from now I should be done with my thesis project chronicling the changes in migration patterns of professional hockey players between Russia and North America. At issue for me is the NHL’s status as the world’s premier league in the face of changes in the makeup of European professional hockey (the lack of support for the IIHF transfer agreement as indicative of this).

What about longer term?
I left my job at an engineering firm (no official title, but “Communications Coordinator” sounds about right) in Montreal to pursue a dream of making it to the NHL - not as a player, mind you, but rather within hockey operations (scouting and player development).

This is a long-term plan; I’m very willing to work my way up (and actually, I kind of look forward to it - I’d like to be involved in as many ways as I can). « less
