I used to could walk and read, hated to waste time that could be spend reading. As I browse this site and others reading lists, I'm remembering old...more »

    Hi Pauline,

I've been reading The Key and am enjoying it quite a bit. My favorite genre for fun reading is space opera, and I am especially fond of eBooks. Thanks for a wonderful yarn with a winning heroine.

    Hi Pauline,

    Good Morning,

Keeping Misery Company is available NOW! Today is the official release date. To my friends who've supported me by purchasing the book, or posted words of encouragement over the past couple of weeks, Thank You. I really appreciate it!

I still have work to do, the most challening part happens today, selling the book. If you're so inclined, please repost my bulletin to your friends, or if you know someone who reads, please spread the word.

Keeping Misery Company is available everywhere for $14.99. If you still haven't ordered your copy, what are you waiting for? Stop by your favorite bookstore and pick up a copy of Keeping Misery Company.

Here is my latest review of Keeping Misery Company:

    Keeping Misery Company

    Trade Paperback – October 30, 2007
    Christian Fiction
    5 Stars

God never put more on you than you can bear and Ruth is holding God to His Word. Ruth has lived her entire life in the shadow of her parents, Bishop and Queen Esther, as the poster child of Preachers kids. After over 30 years of marriage, she realizes that her husband was stepping out on her. Ruth woke up from the haze that had become her life to realize that life threw her a drastic curve ball.

Keep Misery Company is an exceptional read. The storyline is full of twists and turns while dealing with everyday issues – homosexuality/AIDS, forgiveness, teen pregnancy, adultery, homelessness, and drama in the church. The character development is on point as the reader can easily relate with the realistic characters. Keeping Misery Company was a combination of The Color Purple and Diary of a Mad Black Women – running the emotional gamut while illustrating God's ultimate sacrifice. Definitely one of the BEST and ORGINAL CHRISTIAN FICTION books this year!

    Dear Pauline:

As a Shelfari friend, I thought I'd pass on to you a quiz I'm using to promote my new book, the 2nd in the HowToDoItFrugally Series of books for writers after the award-winning The Frugal Book Promoter is a must for writers and includes lots of good stuff important for any writer to know. It is, ta da! The Frugal Editor: Put Your Best Book Forward to Avoid Humiliation and Ensure Success.

Check Your Sell-Your-Book Expertise with Carolyn's Quiz

Every writer should know the answer to these or know how to find out :

    1. What is the rule posted by most agents and publishers I can break in order to sell my book faster?
    2. How can a style sheet help me edit my book or work better with my editor?
    3. Why do I need to know about indexing?
    4. How can I corral Word's Spell Checker to help rather than hinder my editing process?
    5. Why is editing important to getting a publisher or an agent when my publisher's editor will help me with that anyway?
    6. Why should I rarely send out a cover letter rather than a query letter?
    7. Why should I avoid using italics for internal dialogue? How do you avoid using them for internal dialogue?
    8. What perfectly natural and grammar-perfect thing should I avoid telling an agent?
    9. How can I turn adverbs that slow my narrative into metaphors?
    10. How can I purge my copy of passive constructions using a computer?
    11. How can code words in my document help avoid humiliation?
    12. How do I avoid superfluous quotation marks that annoy agents and editors?

If you don't know the answers to most every one of these 12 questions without peeking you are sure to benefit from the newly released

The Frugal Editor: Put Your Best Book Forward to Avoid Humiliation and Ensure Success
    available now on Amazon, http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0978515870/

Thanks, Pauline, for asking Greg. I agree, it is sad. i watched that new show, K-ville and it just put knots in my stomach to see so much of this still in this kind of shape. Heart-wrenching for those familiar and I can but imagine for those living in it day to day.

Pauline, remember that now--about the move. I've been trying to find out if Fitzgerald's is still there, since the storm. Can't find it on any of the tour directories or in the restaurant guides. I hope it's not gone. I so loved that place! And the Mardi Gras fountain out by UNO on the lake front. It was one of my favorite places!
