As a journalist I spend most of my days writing and end them cozy in my bed with my desired reading lulling me to sleep. Every night theres many choices staring back at me from my various shelves asking to be chosen. Although I stare lovingly down each shelf my eyes are usually drawn to my favorites and I tend to pick up the same books and... more »

Man its been a while since i read this but I remember when I did I fell in love with the way it was written. Here Mcmillan writes in two voices. One Chapter is the woman, the next is the man. Go into the mind of each as they try and navigate the ups downs and in betweens of a relationship, life, love, friendships and work. She does a great job of weaving in and out of the two voices and i didn't find myself taking sides I actually empathized with both..The movie with wesley snipes and sana lathan on HBO was good but as usual did not do the book justice a must read!

Interested in human nature and the secrets of history's great seducers including but not limited to Cleopatra, Napoleon, Marilyn Monroe, and Don Juan..Find out what type you are and what type the person you are attracted to falls under..A well written exploration of human weaknesses and how to make the most of them by applying "tried and true" techniques. Also featuring some interesting facts about some of history's most influential figures. Besides giving ideas on how to lure the one you want into a sexually driven web it does not touch on love and relationships.

The tales of a young Latina, Cisneros invites the reader to peek into the mind of a 10 year old little girl, the good ol'days when imagination runs wild..the stories are entertaining, funny, and although culture specific at times they remind us that the everyday lives and perceptions of children are a part of every life experience. Made me want to turn back the clock and remember some of the things i did/thought when i was that age...there were no limits!

Having read the Spanish version of this book i can say it was very lyrical and poetic. Coelho's words in Spanish, jump off the page and become songs that grab ur mind and heart through their consistent rhythm. The Alchemist is a good read for anyone trying to stay focused on a life-long dream or goal. Written in the voice of a voyager on a quest.. a-la-the odessy.. it reaches deep into a readers psyche demanding to be read for depth to find personal meaning. It took me a while to get through this book because some ideas/chapters needed..or more so...deserved extra reflection..

For people who like to read short stories with a weird twist at the end. Butler is the author that truly lets his imagination spill forth onto the pages. Real life scenes turned into highly entertaining stories. Good book for when you feel like reading an engaging story but don't feel like starting a novel.

Yes this book is definately a must read for all young women regardless of their relationship situation. It does focus on how women and men relate but all situations are interchangeable. written in the voice of a proud, funny and intelligent woman she uses analogies and phrases throughout that will make you think twice about what you're doing...I have recommended this book to all of my girls and each one has read it within a few days and passed it on the next.
