This is a great book. This probably comes at a time when controversial books related to history of christianity is finding a large audience, but this one is devoid of any such deliberate attempts. Inspite of that, the relationship between John the Baptist and Jesus could evoke controversy. As someone with a great deal of interest in historical fiction, specifically those related to ancient history / inception of religions, I found this book really interesting.

This book is about the attempt of a young man to find more about his roots which belong in Guatemala. Though the narrative is slow in patches, it is a very touching story. At times, there were passages which did not make sense at first, but as the story progressed they seemed to have deeper and deeper meaning. In that way you could think of it having a 'Sixth Sense' kind of quality.
