In my profile picture, you find my lovely seraph Charlotte sitting next to me in a restaurant on East Side Manhattan, 2005. Despite such smartness, we live in Denmark - not N.Y.C.

Take it away!

Humorously written non-fiction on religion - Dawkins is a hard-boiled atheist and pro natural selection kind of guy. And he's bright and knowledgeable and good to read, despite his sometimes somewhat black/while and square views regarding the question of respect of other people's religion). Dawkins is really a one

Pascal Mercier: Perlmann's Schweigen (German title - can't find it in English yet, allthough he's the author of the greatly acclaimed "Night Train to Lisbon"
An interesting read, a tour de force inside a linguist professor's disorientated mind during his long-wanted emancipation from academia and all it's negatives and down-sides. Very precise portraits of a group of representatives of the academic class, meeting for a month at a five-starhotel in Genova. In academia, plagiarism is as serious a crime as murder in the world outside academia. Hence Mr. Perlmann's downfall... Or... Really readable, although a slow starter.

An interesting read for those interested in autism, high-functioning savants and the incredible potential of the human brain. Science-freaks will love this book too, as it is an excellent - yet popular and rather coloured - survey of a selection of the most intruiging aspects og mathematics, neuropsychology, physics, biology, anecdotal history og science and even some art.

    For Scandinavians/Danish readers:
This political essay is worth reading. The author, a young philosopher (and professional creative idea developer in a national bank) tries to appeal to the social responsibility with the readers. And he is doing quite well, I believe. As a Danish counterpart to Al Gore og Michael Moore, Albæk want to engage the reader, the reponsible adults by refocusing on the will and courage to actually DO like we SAY. By being honest, courageous, steadfast, a man of principles (unlike the former Danish prime minister, Anders Fogh Rasmussen), and by being the good parents who encourage our children to LISTEN, be steadfast and to say no. But not least daring to tell the truth to our children, in order for them to gain better coping abilities when growing up. He writes about the deep-grown Danish culture of cowardness, bringing up our children to not entering into conflicts and leading the lives as cowards. Hmm. I am not sure, my writing makes sense today, but nevertheless: Read this book if you're politically and/or morally inclined! :-)

Very moving post 9-11 tale as seen through the mourning eyes of a nine year old New York boy. Innovative free-style use of graphical elements here and there, a book full of creative ideas and deepness. Read it. I highly recommend the book.

Incredibly well-written. Enthralling metaphors and images from a near future post-apocalyptic time of emptyness, as seen from the eyes of an American father and his son, walking towards the coastline through a grey ash-filled deserted USA, without knowing what awaits them in the end. Just as depressing this great tale is, it leaves you with apeacement and a seldom feeling of gratitude that the world has not yet come to an end... Like when you think about your lost loved ones taken by dead, it can make you live life to the max, this grand novel gives you energy to make you fight fundamentalist-religious or fanatic-consumerist driving forces towards the abyss... (don't know it this made any sense, but nevertheless: READ THIS NOVEL!)
