You see, my parents really did not give it a thought when they picked the name Mara from Lualhati Bautista's Dekada '70 (a book that I haven't even read).

I watch waaaaaay too much TV but sleep waaaaaaaaay too less. Amassing ridiculous amounts of MP3s, e-books and movies is my compulsion. Also, paper and office supplies shopping.

It has almost been three years since I crossed over to literature's "dark side": the looming replacement of written words on paper into spoken, digitized, PDFed, and MP3ed books. I barely even buy books now. My book-buying philosophy has become "If you can't download it, buy it". If I downloaded it, read it, and found it to my liking, I buy a copy of the book to support the author.
