Books, like people, are texts. But the advantage of books is that they can be ignored for great swatches of time, tucked on a shelf forever, practically abandoned, whatever, all without a problem. And, even though they can be traumatizing, they put very few demands on you. So, they're clearly better than friends. Yay, books.
