Hi Painterlady, Love your avatar. Is this one of your own painting ? I also paint and find it to be a way to escape just like reading. Have you read any novels by Daniel Silva ie: The Messenger. It's a spy novel but the main character is an art restorer \ spy... Claire

This painting (profile pic) is amazing! I love everything about it.
I'm assuming it is one of yours? I also paint - well, I push paint around, how about that? ;)
Mostly nonrepresentational, but I so enjoy it. I work primarily with acrylic, though it wnds up looking like oil b/c i lay it on so heavily and have a thing for painting many works on the same canvas, covering them with another until I hit on something I like! Your shelf is most impressive. Cheers and happy reading. I hope we can have a chat about books and art! Sabra

In your profile pic, one of your own paintings! Wow, it's stunning if it is and if it isn't. I dabble in oil and acrylic paint, largely abstracts because I'm not good enough for representative art. As a writer, I consider myself first and foremost an artist who works in sounds and meanings to paint a picture with words, phrases and paragraphs. My chief aim or rule is that truth conforms to music -- beauty over reason. Something to that effect.

I see you like Alice Hoffman. One of my all-time favorite novels is Ilumination Night by Alice Hoffman. I think it's her best -- while it touches on some of the elements found in her other novels, elements of magic and fate, in this novel the treatment is a little more realistic (even though there's a giant in this novel)... Read it today!!!!
BTW I like all your art books. I am a budding artist and find reading about art fascinating.
    Take care,
