    Okay it wasn't that great. I really wanted to like it too with the author being from Kentucky and writing about Kentucky but I thought the main character was nutty. I wasn't impressed with the writing either. Maybe you'll think differently. Liking the Spellman Files currently.

    COD is one of my all time favorite reads. I've read it at least a half dozen times and never wanted to see a movie done of it--I just couldn't imagine it being intrepreted well. Have you read any other books by the author of Bastard out of Carolina? I loved that book and the author reminded me of a female Pat Conroy who I enjoy. I know she wrote at least one other book.

    I thought those were beads! I'll put Book Thief on my wish list. I love books that get me to laugh out loud--thanks for the warning too! I can't remember if I just watched the movie City of Joy or read it also. It had Patrick Swayze in it and I remember the movie very well. I'll tell you my laugh out loud book--Confederacy of Dunces. Have you heard of it?

    Thanks for the comment you made on Shantaram. I came across it yesterday. I found the book last night at Half Price Books and am on page 60. Although I've never been to India I find myself "living" in Bombay and loving the book.
