I just earned my MA in English. I read so often I fear I will go blind. I should like to continue hunting up information and education, and have just begun working at a Uni that will give me the odd free class, meaning I shall now delve into archeology, physics, biology, and French. New loves and new adventures, here I come.

    Hey Opal!
you might like anything that Tamora Pierce writes... the first book in her first series (all of her books are kinda connected but they make sense even if you haven't read the first series....) is Alanna the first adventure. I strongly recommend reading her books I found that they were a good read!

i found it very hard to describe that genre. it's pretty much a bunch of different genres put together, creating a great thing. there is mystery, there is drama, there is a little romance maybe. it's cool.
there are three books by him (he passed out after the third one) and they are a trilogy. the first one is called "the girl with the dragon tattoo". i strongly recommend it!

i've read both pride and prejudice and to kill a mokingbird, they are great boopks. plus i'm a huge fan of jane austen, so i'm planning to read everthing by her. :)
i've never read books about incurable viruses, i guess they are not my favourite genre!
recently i've found stieg larsson very interesting, i've loved all of his books. have you evere read them?

i don't really have a favourite genre, i just read books that fit with my feelings. so today i can be i a "romantic" mood and tomorrow i may want to read something full of action. it just depends on my mood...
and, like you, i don't have that much of a social life so i read all the time.

    Hi Opal,
Thanks for your note; nice to meet you too. You have a great shelf-- I see many of my childhood favorites represented.

Since you enjoyed Woman in White, I thought I would mention that I just finished reading The Meaning of Night, by Michael Cox, and enjoyed it quite a lot. It is a contemporary novel but very Victorian in atmosphere and plot line and evocative of Wilkie Collins in a number of ways; perhaps you would like it.

    Best wishes,
    Rachel
