    Greetings:
I would like to accomplish two things at once. First, I would like to thank you for promoting and sustaining the life of black literature and secondly, I would like to suggest some great reading for you. At present, there are two very good books that I feel are must reading. Both are recent and both are timely. One is great fiction. The other, a book of daily affirmations for African-Americans.

The novel, When I Say Jump, by Gibran Tariq, is a compelling legal thriller equal to anything written by John Grisham. he story is about a young, black female attorney who stumbles upon a government conspiracy to imprison one out of every four black males born in this country. The book ois written with such lyrical charisma that the words literally leap form the page. It can be found on Amazon.com.

SNAPSHOTS, by Gibran Tariq, can also be found on Amazon.com. To demonstrate the power of the book, I am attaching the SNAPSHOT for 2day and 2morrow.

Today is nothing more than a pat on the back. Tomorrow is a hug and a kiss. –ali-

Tomorrow is always something more. It is a new season of hope where you are vested with a different chance to end a bad habit, start a new diet, or to fashion a better life. Inside the fresh environment of a new day exists seeds of commitment. These seeds are the natural wonders of your inner world and from them spring the vision under which you will labor to either despair, impair, or repair yourself. Don’t you know that it is from your sense of purpose that your soul paints its self-portrait? The universe will not award you anything until you possess an identity. The state of being only allows you the awareness of your senses. The art of becoming permits you to exercise them. In the larger perspective, it is not enough just to BE. The decision must be made to BE MORE! Once you reach the magnificence of this long-awaited acknowledgment, you will be able to fully recognize that the beauty of your individuality in no way contrasts with the diversity of the world, so you can now make your own way and still be at home. Give thanks to tomorrow by throwing it a “Baby shower” today. This is how you hug yourself with open arms.

It is better to achieve than to receive -ali-

At every fork in the road on your journey to successful living, there are many distinctions to be made. One such distinction to be reckoned with is the line between what you ACHIEVE and what you RECEIVE. While there is never any uncertainty about what you receive, the same is not true with what you achieve since many people go through life filled with doubt about their achievements. An achievement is the personal nourishment of your individual worth whereas receivership is merely the reassurance that you exist. Once you make the discovery of which is which, you will be able to understand the intricate synchronization between probabilities and possibilities, knowing which is a celebration of your merits and which is an invocation of chance. Don’t make a career out of waiting-to-receive because sometimes the hand-outs stop. What then? You are only limiting yourself and producing a sterile atmosphere for disappointment. Explore the possibilities of your individual merit by achievement. It is a happy appointment with yourself.

    Don’t gamble----PLAN -ali-
Do you know how to detect failure? Well, you can. It is a learning process but you will always bring yourself closer to success in all your endeavors when you realize that a plan is a stable balance between your weaknesses and your potential. A good plan is much more that a high-chair for your ego. It is an assurance policy against worry, a balm for doubt and a healing for quitting. Whenever you plan, you encourage activity towards the right solution and you personally cooperate in uplifting your own attitude which has the immediate power to shrink seemingly insurmountable odds and obstacles. PLAN. Don’t worry about overdoing it because as long as you are comfortably aware of the dos and don’ts of your inner nature, you will prepare accordingly, but beware of your ego! If it is not firmly strapped in its booster chair, it can offer deceptive advice. To the ego, planning is like staging a carnival. Everything must be outrageous and exciting and colorful. Remember that when you reach the point where planning is fun, then you are no longer planning----you are gambling! And that’s a whole ‘nother story. PLAN

  • Therone Shellman, Author, Entrepreneur and Visionary

Therone Shellman, Author, Entrepreneur and Visionary says

    Greetings!
Survivor I Changed the Rules Part 1 available via kindle
Therone Shellman the elder of four children who were taken away from their mother when he was four and thrown into the NYC foster care system. In and out of different homes he and his sister went. He was a child thinking about adult issues like survival and having to look out for his younger sister. At the age of fifteen dissatisfied with the dysfunctional parents who adopted them both, and a school system he felt was biased he turned his back on both and sought the streets. From hustling at fifteen, to pulling stick ups at sixteen, Shellman found himself at the age of seventeen being sentenced to ‘four to twelve” years in prison.
In an honest and brutal way Shellman tells his life story from a powerless child to a power crazed and misdirected youth, survival of the fittest on the streets and in some of the roughest prisons in New York State. Throughout the story you witness his search for self peace and spiritual growth as he sought to balance his troubled life which would ultimately lead him through real life threatening situations where by chance and a little wit he would overcome time and time again. And finally some way some how an awakening rose up within him to change his life and write stories which would help others.
"Survivor" I Changed the Rules is not just a memoir or biography, it is a testament about how strong the human spirit is and the ability within all of us to rise above the chains which imprison us.

Hi and thanks for being my friend on Shelfari, I’m the Author of four poetry books about love-romance-life etc. If you are delighted by the two poems below maybe you will consider adding my four books to your shelf.

The World As We See It

The world as we see it gone
The world as we see it vague
    The world-our world
    Your world-my world
    God created.

The world as we see it
    No longer pure-safe
The world as we see it
    Wish to run-hide-escape.

The world as we see it gone
The world as we see it vague.

    The world that once was
    Free from sin-a world where
    Anger-hatred-lies to fall in
    The world that ate forbidden
    Fruit, that sends our
    Bones to hell
    Biblical verses of
    Old that still
    Prevail.

The world that we use to know
The world as we see it gone
The world as we live in it
    Vague.

    I Love you

I love you to the moon
I love you to the end of the planets.
I love you till there's no love in the equator
I love you knowing nothing could be greater
I will love you from now until decades later.
Let me love you now not later
    Let me love you to
    Northern skies
    Western hemispheres
    Without worries, fears or cares.
    Allow me to love you
    Until you care
    Open up-heal from old wounds
    that you start to share.
Our love is genuine-it can't compare.
    Now your love has opened
Like a brand new gift on Christmas
See what happens when you allow
    Someone to love you.
