In possession of an Asian Studies degree, working towards another in Archaeology, dabbling in astronomy and not sure where exactly I am going. A skeptic at heart but a sucker for ancient mythology. My writing is lost and stuck in a rut. I could really use a creative kick in the butt. A passion for all things mah jongg, one bag packing, daibutsu,... more »

Clear Skies: A Charming Love Story (Yaoi Novel)

I remember reading this manga in Japanese, but the novel version is really cute. I feel June did a much better job at translating and formatting, but they still need to get their editors on small typos like 'tah' instead of 'that' or 'evem' when it should be 'even'.

Despite the random typos, it's a good story, and I recommend reading the manga as well.

  • The Money Answer Book: Quick Answers to Everyday Financial Questions

A friend of the family gave this book to me, and it was an enlightening read. It had it's non-secular moments, but it was balanced with really helpful information and insight.

I really enjoyed the format - basic Q&A. It made it easy to jump to a section I was interested in. The answers were brief but packed with good information. I was able to read the whole thing in just a few hours.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has questions about budgeting and finance - you don't have to be of a particular faith in order to want to save money!

An interesting read - full of facts and figures - but a lot of it was irrelevant for me because of the book's non-secular nature. If you are of Judeo-Christian faith then you may find this helpful, but for someone who doesn't believe in the concept of fate or callings, it's difficult to follow some of the advice of this guide. It is possible to ignore those sections, but it won't yield the intended results.

However, there are some good tips in this book, and most of the self-reflection questions I found quite useful in picking out areas of my current situation that need the most attention. The section in the back about resumes, cover letters, and follow-up letters is a great addition, and I'm glad he touched on interviewing and nontraditional jobs.

Wasn't the best book I've read about career advice, but it had its moments.

Wow! I was excited knowing that Mitt and Moril came back, but I wasn't expecting it to be that good! The only thing I didn't like was that it ended. Seriously, DWJ, MOAR!

I've been in a reading funk lately, so it took me a while to actually start reading it, but after chapter six I was drawn in. Ended up reading the majority of it in a single day.

There was a twist in this book that I didn't see coming. It's nice to know that I can still be surprised. Good show, Diana Wynne Jones! I can't wait to read the fourth book as both Moril from the first book and Mitt from this book are in it.

Another great Judge Dee mystery. The writing style is simple, and there are a lot of "small, dapper men" with mustaches or goatees. Eh, whatever. Judge Dee makes up for it. He's so c a l m ... it's creepy!

Finally an insight into the life of Ash, and the 700+ pages are more than worth it! This book, along with Dance With the Devil, have been the highlights of the Dark-Hunter series for me.
