I've been a bookworm for as long as I can remember. My parents were hard-pressed to keep me supplied with books, even resorting to flea markets, high-school textbook sales, and traveling salesmen.
After we moved to San Jose, we lived in a neighborhood where the bookmobile parked right across the street from our house. I would go there every other week and stock up on everything my heart desired. My mother didn't monitor what I read, so I checked out the same book on Wicca five or six times, and tore through all of Danielle Steel's writings by the age of ten.
As an adult, I still read avidly, although my reading time is constrained by my job and my dog (Ray -- an awesome agility dog and the best companion a girl could hope for -- hence, my avatar).
During the summer, I "shop" at Amazon, Borders, and Target, and then end up requesting most of my books through the public library system. Since I read two or three books a week when I'm going full speed, it's a much more affordable (and space-friendly) way for me to satisfy my cravings.
I'll read just about anything that catches my fancy, so if you look through my shelf and know of something that might fit, let me know!
