OBSCURE

Loved reading since I was a kid, captured by the belief that anything was possible. English degree, then on to an Interior Design degree. I wished I had kept track of everything I've ever read. Shelfari is my first attempt to try and remember at least a portion of my literary history. I hate to say my brain has gone into semi-retirement and... more »

Hi! It has been along time since I have written to ANY of my friends and I want to apologize to you. One of my New Year's resolutions is to stay in touch better. I noticed "Paths of Glory" on your shelf. What can you tell me about it? I have read most of Archer's books but hadn't come across that one. Hope spring finds its way to Ann Arbor soon. We are having a lovely but windy day. Perfect for a trip to the library and a walk with the dog and recently retired husband.

Just wanted to let you know that I have been reading "books about books" lately and wanted to recommend Deitrich's Napoleon's Pyramids if you have not read it....another don't get your hope's up- but I enjoyed it a lot! Some parts are hokey, but i think it adds to the laugh factor and pace of the read.

    Hello,
Just thought I drop in and say howdy. Have you found any good books lately that you can't wait to share? I have to admit, most of the books that I have read lately I have found on the shelves of Shelfari friends. I keep a list by my computer to jot down titles that look interesting. Then I kind of research them in the reviews and on Amazon and the library site to see how available they are. Lately I have been listening to F Scott Fitzgerald on my way to and from work. When I finish with the one I am on "The Beautiful and Damned" I will be finished with Fitzgerald. Simply didn't make it to my list of favorite authors. Hope things are warming up there in MI ! Everyone deserves some spring! Keep in touch.

Dear Obscure: I don't know if my novel is your dream book. I've written so many. perhaps one of them is. My problem is: I need to get this first one to do well, or the others may stay where they are. In my closet. My HUNTING THE KING is coming out in two weeks. It's a thriller, so I hope you'll check it out.
HUNTING THE KING is a fast-paced page-turner that follows archaeologist Molly O’Dwyer into war torn Iraq in search of the remains of Jesus. ForeWord Magazine says: “Fans of intellectual thrillers and historical fiction will find a worthy new voice in Clenott. His best invention may be Molly O’Dwyer, a genuinely likeable heroine who more than holds her own in a man’s world. An ambitious scientist, she is also an observant Catholic whose heart and mind don’t always agree. Given such an auspicious start, the sequel can’t come too soon.”

To get a good sense of how powerful the book is, check out the heartpounding booktrailer on YouTube or on my web site at www.peterclenott.com. It is like watching a preview for an exciting movie. The novel is equally exciting.

While it isn’t out until April, you can find it on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and Kunati Books. I hope you’ll take a look. And let me know what you think.

    Thanks. Peter.

Hi, I was just going to drop in and wish you a happy spring, whenever it does arrive, and I noticed that you added "Rumpole Misbehaves" to your list of books you have read. I just finished that book this week! I love John Mortimer, at least most of his books. His memoirs wear a little thin sometimes, but I really like Rumpole. (It might have something to do with being married to a lawyer/judge) I can really identify with She Who Must be Obeyed

    Hi there,
I hope you have been able to adjust to your new routine and that it includes some "me" time that you can use on reading. Any good suggestions for something to pick up? I'm kind of between books and subjects and looking for something new. I tried some William Faulkner for the first time in years and years. I don't think I had ever read anything by him that had not been previously digested for me by teachers . I read "Sanctuary" and found it quite good. It made me want to go looking for more of his writing that is not so well known. I am still open to suggestions though. Hope your local groundhog stayed where he couldn't see his shadow. We are in for 6 more weeks of winter.

I am happy you accepted my invitation for friendship. I understand your reluctance to communicate by email, so I will be glad to send messages though the message system. I don't think I mentioned that I have a sister -in-law who lives in Ann Arbor. I hope the new year has started on an upward swing for you.

    Hi,
I am kind of new to Shelfari and am not sure how these things are supposed to be done. I have sent you a request for friendship. In reading your profile, it almost looks as if I am reading about myself. I would really enjoy having you as a Shelfari friend.

if you have any interest in current geo political economic situation you could try some of the recent non fiction work to enable your brain to come out of retirement.

The ones I would suggest are Stiglitz (The Roaring Nineties, Globalisation & Its Discontents), Sen ( Identity & Violence - The Illusion of Destiny).

I found the World is Flat to be an extremely flat book - journalistic - nothing exceptional either in terms of new ideas or interpretation.

Also hoping that you would come out of obscurity!
