It was a real disappointment. After I read Dracula I wanted to try another book from this author thinking it would be at least as good as the first one. But I found it very childish, predictable, boring.
Some people say it's great. I really can't understand why. It was a waste of time.

I didn't like it that much. The plot was interesting, the idea very well chosen, but the book itself was weak. I don't think the characters were complex at all. I couldn't find any introspection, which I think was necessary for the credibility of the characters and of their actions. The narrative voice was ok, but with such a good basic idea the book could've been way better. It came out just being sick... you learn nothing from it. No conclusion at all.

It's such a pitty there are few people who read Maghrebian literature. This is a very beautiful book, it's full of mistery and the idea itself is surprising and not only beacause it's inspired by a real case, but beacause it's told by seven different story tellers, reminding about One Thousand and One Nights. When you think you've reached the true, everything gets blurry again, and the second part of the dyptich, The Sacred Night, gives a poetic ending to all the sufferings of the main character... a woman that is not a woman, nor a man... Just a soul.
