I enjoy talking about books I've read, sharing a new find, and discovering new authors from friends. I do book reviews as Nash Black for Amazon and post reviews for books of personal interest from a Bird's Eye View at htt://nash-black.blogspot.com.

    Hi Bookie,

Oh yes, Carolyn Hart has given me many hours of reading fun. I love the game she plays in her shop with the paintings she displays. What a clever idea. And I really like it that Annie and Max are so much in love.

Just as you do, I've added books to my library queue on Annie's recommendations.

Escape from Paris? I'll definitely check it out.

    Thanks for breezing by.

Thanks for the info. I put "Guns Across the Rio" on my wish list. I just bought the Kindle version of "Sins of the Fathers". I have read just about all of Elmer Kelton's books. We lost Kelton not long ago and I am hoping Dac Crossley helps fill the void.

Apparently I though you, and several others, should be skilled in mind reading. I feel so silly. The group is "All New Authors" and it has a sunrise as an icon. I'm not that good at this site either, so I don't know how to attach a link.

Please come check out and join my new group. Add your book to the shelf while you're there. It's a place for new authors to really discuss their books, not just list them. Join the discussions and tell us what is great about your book. Also, invite all of your friends so that we can really get this group going!

Oh goodness! I didn't mean you should buy it! I thought you were keeping a list of ones you knew about. I know on your post you said you had read those, but I inferred that you kept a running list (incorrectly it seems.) I followed you on twitter, but didn't find a blog listing!

I just finished sending off all my spare review copies, but at next order, I'll add you to the list and if you still want to read it, I'll send you a copy. Or, if you have an e-reader, I can gift you a copy or mail you one.

Sorry about that. I never approach people directly trying to hand sell!

    Hi Bookie,

I noticed you said you have a list of books without "murder" over on the cozy group. I wanted to let you know that Executive Lunch doesn't have a murder in the mystery--but I didn't want to post it there because it might look like self-promo. So I'm just telling you here!

You are full of good advice and I do appreciate it. Writers do need to stick together in our everchanging landscape. My book is For the Love of Art (A Novel of Hope) and yes, it is on kindle. Would love to know what you think of it. Please visit my website as well. http:/www.janetgoodfriend.com. Best wishes with your writing! I'm going to go check out your book now . . .

With a young adult as a child I get to read what I find interesting that she has. But sometimes I beat her to the punch like the twlight series. I read them about a year before she even got into them lol.

I am a little behind on my notes and such...the new grandbaby has arrived so I will be getting caught up on my reading of the baby books again I am loving it!!!

I've posted a discussion topic on the Vistas group and want you to check it out. Here it is, so you can think about it first :):

Attention Authors Among Us: A Question on Your Characters

How much time do you spend in naming your Characters? What is your inspiration for their names, especially the main characters?

Upon reading Scott Pratt's An Innocent Client, I began to think about this. His character, Erlene, really came to life. She, in my mind, talked and cracked her gum, although I think Scott failed to mention the gum :), like Flo (from the TV show Alice) but looked and walked like Mrs. Al Bundy. Get my drift? The name really "topped" her off for me. I started thinking about characters from other books I've read at that point and decide Gus McCrae (Lonesome Dove) couldn't have had the name 'Woodrow Call' anymore than Call could have had Gus's name. They just didn't "fit" the character.

I just bought the latest Kate Sujak novel. It is hard to slug through at first but warms up. Is that Sharon McCrone book a set of short stories?
I am re-reading Texas Iliad by Steven Hardin. I am writing Alamo stuff right now. Hardin has an excellent artist -- very helpul with period clothing and arms.

Now -- what about music? What songs in Texas in 1836?

    Irene,

I understand what you are going through, I have moved 4 times myself, during the last 6 years. I want to settle down. God help me! What are you going to do with all of those books! I'm putting a few of mine in an auction this weekend to support a local community organization. Gotta make room for MORE! :) Take care. Be careful moving stuff. Boxes of books are heavy!

Oops, sorry about the typos in that note below. It is nearly 3:30 a.m. and I just got in from work. Fatigue sets in and the 'sandman' is calling my name as I type this.
