Ok, so I wish Cadavan and Maeread getting together was more....discussed. Otherwise, I thought this was terrific!

This is great. It's the first of a trilogy by Anderson. It's historical fiction about a young slave girl in New England and her travails. I can't wait fot the next one!

Really fascinating ideas about identity and memory. The author's story is interesting too.

Isn't this preaching to the choir? However, it did inspire me to be even more locally concious when I buy food. It even made me think about growing more.

I was somewhat disappointed with this book. All the endings seemed so...neat and tidy. Eclipse was WAY better. I went out and paid full retail for this, and I wished I'd waited for the Amazon copy which would have been cheaper. The physiology is weird too; since when do vampires have human "fluids"? And the imrinting on the baby? Eww.
I enjoyed it somewhat better the second time around, but overall, it was predictable. It reminded me how disappointed I was in the ending of The Host as well.
As another reviewer said, Meyers made easy choices for her characters rather than letting them make hard choices for themselves.
