Scot Harvath finds his girl friend laying in a pool of blood on his front door step, and then is told to stay out of the investigation. His mother is then attacked on the opposite coast, once again he is told to let others handle it. Fortunately for the reader he doesn't. Not even the President of the U.S. can make him quit. With Federal Agents who once considered him a hero trying to stop him, even if it means they have to kill him, Agent Harvath continues to hunt down the people who may be threatening everyone that he cares about.

What if there was a final message from the Prophet Mohammad that would turn the tide of violence for all believers of Islam? That is the premise of Brad Thor's latest book. Tie that in with the Historical facts about Thomas Jefferson and our FIRST battle with Islam and it makes for a great read. After finishing the book I ended up doing some research an the Historical events mentioned in the book. Even as one of the characters is a Muslim historian I am sure that there will be or already have been death threats over this book. If simple cartoons can cause them this book certainly will. Don't plan on doing much once you open this book, you won't want to tear yourself away till the end. Now I have to catch up his other books since this is the first Brad Thor book that I have read.

Okay so Jim only made a token appearance along with his new bride the lovely Bernie Manualito, now Mrs Chee. In the mean time the Legendary Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn investigates the reappearance of a Spirit Rug that was thought to have been lost years before in a fire. While figuring out who did it was pretty easy the solution was still a bit of a surprise. All in all it was another enjoyable trip to the Big Res. It is one of my favorite parts of the country, and Hillerman captures it so well. I don't know how accurate his knowledge of the Navajo culture is but I do know that he is well respected by all of the Navajos that I have spoken to. I will continue to take a trip to visit with Jim Chee, Joe Leaphorn and the other Hillerman characters as long as he keeps telling their stories.

This is not your normal Dean Koontz. Where many of his novels travel at break neck speed this one is more like a fine brandy. After the initial intense rescue scene the story takes the time to build gradually. Amy and Brian's pasts are revealed in layers like the peeling of an onion. Each new revelation brings them into sharper focus as humans. I will forgive him for the constant fawning about Golden Retrievers since this was published shortly after the death of his own Golden, Trixie. I enjoyed his mutt Woofer from "Dragon Tears" much better. Take your time and savor this one.
