The first 3/4 was tedious--especially the parts with Will's early history. The last 1/4 + ending did make me want to read the next installment in the series...

A fascinating collection of characters--one of the best books I've read in a long time. No surprise since it did win the Pulitzer Prize.

Good teen boy reading: great action sequences, fast moving plot.

Characters were one dimensional though somewhat of an engaging story...

This was the most thought provoking book I have read in a long time. The character portraits were uncomfortably detailed. Franzen's portrait of family, marital, and political dysfunction were spot on. This book was like a gaper's delay. You are embarrassed to admit that you just can't look away from the grotesque muddle the characters have created of their lives.

A fast paced novel of the turbulent 1960's during the civil rights movement. The ending was too perfectly tied up, however.

A good continuation of the series but Rinna wasn't as engaging a main character as the protagonists of the first three books.
