Thank you for joining my group. I am very interested in institutionalized racism; in the USA that is the result of white privilege, aka white supremacy. The creators of the constitution were white, and it was written expressly for white people. That document established precedent. Subsequent laws were biased toward white folks, and white folks reaped splendid benefits and privileges, while black people in particular were singled out BY LAW to suffer from unfair housing laws, unfair lending practices, discrimination in employment, education, health care and in nearly every other facet of life. It is very hard for most americans to get a grasp of their own racism, and most white people are very uncomfortable with the topic at all. Very interesting right now, having a black man poised to be president.
Thanks again, and i hope to hear from you some time.

I bought The Motorcycle Diaries to read on the plane this week, and it was amazing. I haven't read anyhing that fast in ages. I really recommend it - even the abridged version I read which has the movie poster on the cover.

    How was Ukarianian Tractors...?

Ok, I just finished reading the book, and I loved it.

Ahh, the book is that good eh ? I still have not read it yet, but it is next in line. A friend of mine recommended it, one of the best books she had ever read, so I am very excited about reading it :-) Have you read Orhan Pamuk's "Snow"? I recommend it. It's really good. The turkish balancing of Islam versus extrem secularism, very political, but also exciting.
