I'm in Reader's Advisory in a busy public library in the western suburbs of Chicago. I retired from the non-profit world a few years ago and came to work part-time in the really non-profit world. I'm one of the lucky people whose dream job found her. I love my work.

That is great news - I am on the hold list at the library for it, and I am only about three from the top now!

I am enjoying it, although my previous read was "Cutting for Stone" - which I loved, so it might be suffering a bit by comparison. I have not read any other books by Meg Wolitzer, but have added The Ten-Year Nap to my "to read" shelf. My to be read shelf is pretty heavy, too!

I noticed on Shelfari that we are reading the same book, and wondered what you thought about it (The Uncoupling by Meg Wolitzer)? Your shelf looks very interesting as well, and I thought you might like to chat occasionally with a fellow reader in Virginia.

I agree, her dispassionate tone was surprising to me at first, but I enjoyed seeing things from a new perspective. On a personal note...so great to hear from you! I hope this means you are feeling well.

Thanks Betty. I have it loaded on my computer and I am waiting to finish Drood by Dan Simmons before diving in. 2 ladies in my book club also suggested it to me. I'll let you know what I thought after I listen to it. Thanks fro thinking of me.

oh yes! it is emotionally haunting, and richly evocative of a very specific time and place. plus the backstory is quite fascinating.

My name is Betty too -- and when I read your reveiw I thought someone had copied it from a review I wrote to the Oprah site! I felt exactly the same way. I'm now reading LOVING FRANK and would highly recommend it!
