I am foremost a student, a person secondarily, and finally a reader. I'm probably bound for university professorship one of these days, sure, but don't let that get into your head. I don't have a definite idea on literature, or even about most of the books I'm reading. For the same reason, they're likely to fall in the gray zone and when they... more »

I didn't find it as fresh as you did since I've already read the moon and sixpence with which it has many similarities. What I liked about Razor's Edge is that it made me think a lot about mysticism and twice about other religion.

Paul Newman was working on Wilder's play Our Town before he died. Many years back he was in it with Frank Sinatra. That's why I read it. I thought it must be good since Newman liked it that much. I don't know what to say about it because it's just what it is, plain and simple.

We probably have the same reasons for liking Tenessee. I hate to use the word (I'm not very good with words anyway) but it's the 'power' in his characters. The desperation. The twisted-ness. A lot of things. You know the stuff.

The Moon and Sixpence was inspired by the life of Paul Gaguin. French guy who got tired of the normal life and painted, went to Tahiti. Painted in primitive style, which I don't like. Maugham mentioned it in the first part of Razor's Edge.

It's because so far Tennessee's the best for me. I've read Eugene O' Neill's, Lilian Hellman's, Thornton Wilder's and Shaw's works, that's it. Not that many but I don't expect anyone to be better than Tennessee.

I'm not done with Razor's Edge yet but I finding it a lot like The Moon and Sixpence.

It's good. I haven't read Cat On A hot Tin Roof and I really think I'm yet t say it's the best because I LOVE the movie. Oh and Paul Newman died recently. On the day he died I was watching one of his old movies and I wondered when he's gonna die, then he died. Weird.

We read "Peace Breaks out" by John Knowles. Not as good as "Separate" but it's still good.
