My first novel, an alternate Irish history entitled "A Band of Roses," was released in March, 2008. This adventure story is set in a modern Ireland still ruled by kings. I read for both research and relaxation, and I enjoy exploring the wealth of books on other Shelfari members' shelves.

    Hi Pat!

You're sooooo lucky you got to go to Ireland and you're going back so soon! I haven't been there since late 2003 and I really miss it. Trouble is I haven't made enough money since then to allow me to travel so hopefully things will change soon. I wish you the best of luck on finding a new publisher! I know that's a challenge. My summer was busy but I didn't get to do anything really fun. I have been working on trying to get my own business off the ground as a virtual assistant and social media marketer and Internet promoter for authors & musicians, etc. and I had to move. I just got all settled into my new place and have been in it for almost a month. Like I said - a lot of work! And there's more to come because I have to either find a job by Oct. 4th or be accepted into the Self Employment Benefits program through the Ontario Government as I've applied to it. If I get in, the gov. will pay me a maximum benefit for one year while I build the business. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I haven't read a lot of books, but I managed a few and I enjoyed them. I'm reading Eat Pray Love now and it's great!

    Tell me more about Ireland!

    Have a great weekend!

    Cheers,
    Christine

    Hi Pat,
How are things going? I've started a new book which is always fun. The beginning takes place in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. I lived in Australia for 6 years, back in the '80's. We loved it very much, but I haven't been back since. I'm still waiting to hear back from a few editors on a couple of books, but my Mars Club was turned down unfortunately.
    Good luck to you.

Hi Pat. How was Ireland? I am about 3/4 of the way through the Twilight Series. I never read vampire stuff but I have loved these. Will be sorry when the fourth book is done.
Just thought I would say hello. Been awhile.

Hi, Pat. Thanks for your note. I do read a good bit of horror whenever I have a chance. Lightning is a good Koontz title to start with. I much prefer his older work to his newer ones and that's one of my favorites.

Dear Pat: Very best of luck with your novel. I'm from haverhill, just below the border. My debut was published in April, and I've done several book signings in NH. The title is HUNTING THE KING. Check out the YouTube book trailer if you have the time. WEhat have you been doing to promote? It is a lot of work, not to mention gas money. Peter

Believe it or not I haven't read The Butcher Boy yet myself but I have seen the movie! The first McCabe novel I read was The Dead School and I loved it not to mention Breakfast On Pluto. I'm sure you'll enjoy his work! I'm pea green with envy that you were just in Ireland! You're so lucky!! I'm very interested in your novel and I wish you the best of luck with it. If you're on Facebook, look me up there as I'm there more often - last name Bode. I look forward to talking to you more. Have a great day!

    Hi Pat,
Sorry I haven't responded for a while my wife has been sick. She is a lung transplant patient (8 years ago) so she has issues related to drugs she takes. Anyway, still reading when I can.

I'm reading "Spiritual Evolution" which makes an scientific argument for spiritual faith. I heard and interview on the radio with the author who is a psychiatrist and professor at Harvard University and he sounded interesting. Usally I only read fiction but this caught my interest.

Going to Long Island and Manhattan this week for work. Going Thursday, back Sunday so at least I'll miss the Allstar Game crowd.

Glad to hear you liked Das Boot. I did to. I see you recomended The Butcher Boy. I'll have to check it out.
