Not much to say except I'm a grandfather of 20, I'm a Viet Nam vet I have 3 kids and 3 ex-daughter in-laws and 1 son-in-law and 3 possible ex son-in-laws from my oldest daughter who only contacts me when she wants something. I spent some time in work release of which I don't talk about. I trusted someone that I shouldn't have. My fault for... more »

Hey Ken, I just added a bunch of new books to me "I've read" shelf. I finally figured out how to find books using the search bar and put in the Jean Auel Clan of the Cave bear Series. I read your last message and you talked about yourself. That's good and I appreciate your openness. Love ya dude!

Elder's Meditation of the Day - March 10
"I know Grandpa told me that to smoke is wakan (holy). The smoke you inhale represents the spirits of everything you put into the pipe. When you breathe in the smoke, you are asking to become one with everything or to become whole."
    --Dr. A.C. Ross (Enhanamani), LAKOTA
The smoke allows us to go from the Seen World to the Spirit World. It is in the Spirit World where we are all connected. In this way, we can become one with all things. Our pipe is sacred. We need to be respectful of our medicine. When we smoke the pipe, we need to have good thoughts because these thoughts are shared with the Spirit World. The pipe, the smoke, the spirits, our thoughts-these things are Wakan.

Great Spirit, today, let my thoughts be Wakan.

I think everyone is entitled to their opinion. I'm choosing not to share mine, though, particularly in regard to politics, because I've seen it tear friends apart. You should see the way my Mom and my Dad fight over it! My Mom gets pretty mouthy...but then, you're her bro and you probably know that. I'm currently reading a book about the poet Anne Sexton. It's an autobiography as seen through her many letters and correspondence with the people in her life. She was mentally ill and some of her letters really reflect her battle and I think it's pretty fascinating. How about you? Got any good books going?

    Hi Uncle Kenny :)

Thanks for your little note! I'm finally getting into this thing! I've been pretty bad at keeping in touch with you guys. Karen has emailed me and Denise has called and I haven't gotten back to either one. I just haven't made the time...I know, I suck. I've been working on making more time for myself these days. I got into a really bad habit of bringing work home and staying up late and going into work early and I basically let it control my life, but NO MORE!! Things are getting MUCH better, less stressful, and, DUH, I have more time to do things in my free time that I actually enjoy!! Anyway, I hope you are well. Tell everyone back there I say Hi! Have a great day! :)

Hi Ken! I'm finally back at school, so I am online once in a while. Hope you had a decent summer. Our's down here, was wet and cool, however, now that school is in session, it has become really hot and miserable. I'm looking for some ideas on new authors for my husband (the old warhorse!) to read. He loves the W.E.B. Griffin books about the military, but I'd love to find him a new author. Any suggestions?

Hello. I'm actually in touring China for a few weeks right now. I did read two books... One was _Nightlife_ a paranormal by Rob Thurman, quite interesting. And a romance. I like them just for fun. Ran out of my own books and will probably start _Lost Horizons_ since I'm staying at the Hotel Shangri-La and they have copies for sale. I'ver read it AGES ago--can barely recall it!

Politicians say enough already... don't need to read more. Althoughthe Clinton book had decent reviews. Never read it, though...!

    Hi Ken!!

Sorry I didn't reply faster. I am doing good. I just finished a book by Leslie Meier. It was a cozy mystery. I think I will read more of them. That was the first book. It was cute. Hopefully you had a great Father's Day!! I will talk to you later. Happy Reading!!

    Hi Uncle Kenny,

I'm sorry I haven't logged in here in awhile. I don't have a very good internet connection at home (I had to get rid of my messenger programs, too), and I'm limited by what I can do on this site when I'm at work because they have parts of it blocked. I have made no significant stride in my reading, so I'm still working on the same books I mentioned to you before. I'm getting ready to move in the middle of next month and I'm also in a wedding at the end of July so I've been very busy! How are things with you? How's our family doing? Hope you are well. Again, please be patient with me on here. I'll try to respond to you when I can!
    :) Marcy

    Hi Ken,
Have a nice day! I haven't tried to read that book even though I heard a lot about it. Anyway, to watch the "live" political race may be more interesting. Obama is ahead according to the polls, right?
