A seeker of profound truths. Saddened by the intolerance, extremism and hegemony of the 'civilized world'.
As age takes its toll I become less connected with my world. The perceptions become realties; the realities too burdensome to tolerate. I find peace only in the quiet and yet unspoiled places where the sounds of nature can still rise...more »

    I love your new avatar!!

I'm so glad your doctors found, removed, & treated the tumor. I had no idea you were going through that! How frightening for you & your family!! I'm sending you lots of virtual wishes & hugs for a happy, speedy recovery.

I'm glad you were able to read On Beauty, & enjoyed it as much as I did. =)

I just read on one of AA's threads that you haven't been able to get hold of On Beauty. I would love to send you my copy! I've been exchanging books w/ several Shelfarians, so I could furnish references. I'm sure Rob or Aimeesue will be happy to agree that I'm not a stalker...=)

Jay, You were recommended by Aryel to help serve as admin for the Mentoring Men group. The position requires befriending men; encouraging conversation by creating posts, encouraging others to post or begin new threads of discussion, by questioning, reasoning, interpreting and expounding; monoring posts to ensure that they are not preaching, have not degraded into personal attacks, are on topic and contributing toward our goal. Members will be treated with respect and honor and appreciation. New members will be welcomed. We will maintain order and pray for the success of the group. Are you up to it?

I see you have Shake Hands With The Devil on your shelf. Last year I watched a 2 hour documentary on him and the Rwanda tragedy. The documentary was riveting! How is the book?

Jay, I wish I had known! I am putting you on my mishabarak list immediately. We were up at the cabin for a week in July and in August. Both times as I was fishing off the pier on Lake Huron, I looked across the big water and said, "I wonder how Jay is?"

As they say, Its not the age, its the mileage!

Jay, welcome to the group, Mentoring Men. I look forward to all you bring to the group and I hope you find things of value here as well. I ask that you would invite all of your male friends to join as well so that the discussions can become more vibrant.

I've been wondering where you were.
Hospital's....well, suck quite frankly, don't they?
Have missed you and been thinking about you as well. Can't wait until you are up to being a "regular" here again.
Will continue to keep good thoughts and send good vibes your way.

    Dear Worship,

I hope and trust you are well and not trapped in a glacier or a tar pit.

I’ve missed your participation at Anglophiles Anonymous. I hope it wasn’t something Mrs. Danvers said. Please do drop in – we’re attempting to determine our Top Ten Favourite British Novels, amongst other vital matters. And feel free to start your own discussion threads if none catch your fancy.

    Yours faithfully,

    Tinky
