I began this list in 2008 and haven't really filled in the books I've read in the past. I listen to a lot of audio books of any genre (whatever the library has at the time) and read mainly manga, sci/fi, fantasy, classics and young adult. I'm always interested in a good suggestion of something someone loved because of the writing and the plot,... more »

The ending really disappointed me. This will be spoilery.

Katness was Independence, and in the end, she gets convinced to have kids that she never wanted and settles for a general contentment. All we find out is she's married with kids. We don't know 1) what her job is, 2) her roll in society, 3) if she's happy. And I get tired of books that end *cough*HarryPotter*cough* with some ambiguous ending with them in the future married with kids and we're supposed to assume THIS IS THE PINNACLE OF THEIR EXISTENCE.

I wanted her to walk off into the forest alone, on her own terms. The whole theme of "human's have a good side too and love conquers all" is tired.

Fun, but not as good as the other two. There were stupid mistakes in characters' actions as well as in plotting. A bit disappointing, but still a nice conclusion(?) to the series.

I wanted to rate this book better, because the writing was superb, the characters great, and generally the plot was good but:

    1) time jumping annoys me, not just the 'big' one, but other missing time throughout the novel.
    2) the ending annoyed me to no end. (I'm not going into details to avoid spoiling people.)

If it were not for those two aspects of this book, I would have given it a 5.

Maybe I should have not read this book, because romances are not my thing. Within these pages were bulging muscles, twuwuv, more bulging muscles, switching POVs, cliche and expected reactions... The half where they are older dragged on with repetitive concepts. I think the entire story could have had more power if it was shorter, cleaner. Anyway, for those who are not romance readers you might scream at it as I did... though for the plethora of people who loved it, I don't understand you, but to each her own.

I did the audio version, and perhaps that wasn't the best way to do this book. It has lovely prose and many layers of meaning within it, but I found myself spacing through the heavy introspection portions of the book and realizing I'd missed whole sections. Too much introspection for me. Plus, I'm pretty bookish, but she used quite a few words I hadn't heard of before. I feel like the author had a thesaurus at hand, ready to wow the world.

Random. The story is all over the place from different points of view from members of this one community. Some are tied together, but others don't feel like they are. I wish there had been more cohesion.

This book should be titled About Writing and Horror. It had a few tips on how to write well, but most of it was about the horror genre, publishing, etc. It never told me how to write a good horror scene, how to scare people, etc.
