    A better, more-fun way to learn about start-up companies, i.e., by example, than a "how-to", "all-about", or "for-dummies" book.

Funny, smart, more fun reading the book than watching the movie.

Probably my all-around favorite writer on politics, society, current events. Well, past events when collected like this. Not likely to be a best-seller, but at least for me a great tour of the events these years.

Like most books, too long. Much too long, in this case. But notions like the north-south vs. east-west orientation of different continents largely determining the spread of novelty in plants, animals, genes, ideas--and thereby the destinies of different groups of people--are intriguing, convincing, and fun.

So many books--new ones, apparently good ones--on American history, but histories & biographies are usually way too long. This one is just right: short, yet interesting & informative.

A fun, interesting, and right-length (short) story about an obsessive individual who paid enough attention to (layers of) rocks to create the first true geological map and thereby set the stage for the development of the theories of (among others) continental drift and evolution.

Amazing but true experiences of a rookie sledder & his dogs in the Iditarod.
