I saw your note but haven't logged into shelfari in a while. Crazy short weeks, holidays and all that jazz. Thanks for pointing the book out to me, no I didn't even know it was out. I have now alerted Jan to the gaping hole in our collection. Hopefully we'll get it soon cause I'd sure like to read it too.

You are better than me, then. If I don't like the one I pick up, I usually don't go back to the author. Maybe something I should reconsider. I read several Penelope J Stokes..recently read one of hers I didn't like much....felt like a whole different author.

Jodi Piccoult. That was who I was trying to think of today. Had to look it up as soon as I got home to ease my crazy brain. Sheesh.

No, I haven't read one of hers in quite a while. That sounds like a fun summer read though. Somehow I have a bunch backed up on the coffee table that I need to get through soon. Everything is going pretty smoothly with the project so far but then we haven't started groundbreaking. :) The car cruise went really well Saturday evening. I had no idea there were so many old cars in Shenandoah. Feel free to complain anytime and then I can just vent right back to you! Hope the start of school is going well. Think Pink! ;)

    Hi Janet,

I run a blog called Number One Novels (numberonenovels.blogspot.com) to spread the word about debut authors. On the blog I interview debut authors and run contests to give away their new novels. Running Monday, July 4 through Sunday, July 10, Number One Novels is interviewing Schneider about her debut novel, The Wedding Writer (with a contest for a chance to win a copy of the novel). If you liked Mary Kay Andrews’ Summer Rental, you might enjoy Schneider’s debut novel. I'm trying to find new avenues for garnering more attention for authors launching their career. If you're interested in debut authors of genre fiction, I’d love to become your friend.

You might have already read this book to classes, but I think it's cute, it's called Mr. Wolf and the Three Bears by Jan Fearnley. I think the kids would get a big kick out of it.

I'm glad you liked it too. Deborah Coonts also writes a little like Janet E. You would probably enjoy Wanna Get Lucky? They mystery is a no brainer but the characters are fun and over the top. The language was clean but things got a little scary with the Porn Industry awards and the spouse swapers all hitting Vegas in the same week. I think I'll brave it and review it on the radio. Hope no one I actually know reads it too! :) I don't know what they'll think of me then.

I loved it. I'm really sorry I waited so long to read it. I was afraid it was going to be "literary" and I didn't want to have to wade through a book that required too much thought. Missed the mark on that one. The audio rocked, the readers did a fabulous job of making the characters come alive. Don't you just want to move there with Juliet?

If you get a chance to read it, Liar, Liar by K.J. Larsen. It is like Stephanie Plum goes to Chicago. Anyway, I think you'll enjoy it.

I was just covering books and saw one that made me think of you. You should check out Diane Atkinson's book Elsie & Mairi Go to War (NF). It is about two British women ambulance drivers in WWI. Made me think of Maisie Dobbs and Jade del Cameron. If I were to do a display oh guru of WWI books, are there any others similar, women, nursing etc....

Thanks for the book suggestion. I've talked Jan into buying it so hopefully I'll get a chance to read it when it comes in. Right now house projects are taking the place of good reading time. Although I just finished (in one day might I add, so you know it is good) Just Like Me, Only Better by carol Snow. Cute, funny, fluffy, chick lit. I think you'd enjoy it too. It was so good to see you over the 4th. Sorry I've been bad about emailing. I'll be better soon!

Isn't it exciting that you are all ready for next fall and even have lots of ideas you want to try out. Book survivor sounds like lots of fun, and I definately agree with covering as much of the glass as possible. It is already hard to keep the kids' attention without any more distractions. I'm reading Nancy Pickard's "The Virgin of Small Plains" and am really liking it so far. I've never read her before but several people have come in recently and raved about her. Of course it never hurts that the story is set near our old college stomping grounds so I can visualize what she is describing. It really makes me miss driving through the Flint Hills. :) So, what are your summer plans?

You have read more this year than I read all last year. Quit rubbing it in! :) Yeah for you getting your inventory done. I hope that means you won't have to spend your summer working on it. Have you read the Help yet? If you haven't you, have to put it on your list. The audio was great. It's a good thing you got me into those or my reading numbers would be even lower. Enjoy the last little bit of school.

Gee, you would have to say Maisie is really good. There were too many books already in my stack when it came out so I passed it by for now. Have you read any of the Gemma Townley books? Jan liked the reviews and we were looking for fun beach reads for summer. The Importance of Being Married is pretty cute, if you get a chance.

Do you really want the truth? I haven't read the Lucas Davenport series yet although I'd like to someday. The first of the prey series was checked out and I saw Virgil only had three titles in his series as opposed to the 20+ in the other and I thought hey, I could actually read this series! :)
