Read the review for A Beautiful Blue Death
I'm really glad you liked City of Fire. I thought the Lost Witness was even better. Now if he'll just hurry up and write more. Any recommendations for me? Have you read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet? The audio was great (listened to it while making Christmas cookies).
There's a reason you don't remember reading Bad Manners. Don't bother rereading it again. There are many better books out there. Have you tried Robert Ellis's books? I really like the Lena Gamble series.
Hey, what did you think of Bad Manners by Kellogg? It was listed as an Evanovich read alike. Is it worth the effort?
Janet, how often does one run across psychogeography? Well, twice--if you've just read The Ten Second Staircase by Fowler and then read The Blood Detective by Dan Waddell!! Good grief! Waddell is not as good as Fowler, but one of the three main characters is a professional geneaologist. And, how often does that happen?!!
I haven't read anything by Sara Donati --- guess I should try her.
I just finished Mark of the Lion by Suzanne Arruda. It reminded me a little of Maisie Dobbs, set right after WWI. Jade was an ambulance driver in France before she goes on safari in Kenya. It was really well written and I liked the characters a lot. Anyway, thought you'd enjoy this series if you haven't already read it.
I've liked everything I've read by rosina lippi... although think the pj girls was my fave
Mims came in today and said that Sarah Donati (Rosina Lippi's pen name) is like reading Diana Gabaldon. In fact Claire is mentioned in Donati's book according to Mims. Have you read them? Thought you'd like to know since Gabaldon is your favorite! :)
So, what did you think of Sworn to Silence? You read it awfully fast! It was one I couldn't put down once I got going.
You have to read Sworn to Silence, it was really good. It kinda reminded me of the Donald Harstad books, small town police. You might try Pajama Girls of Lambert Square too, it was fun with really interesting characters. Are you all settled in your new house???
Haven't looked at your shelf --- but have u read testimony by Anita Shreve? It is a lot of food for thought. Scarcy --- but probably 2 tru 2 life.
Janet--Fatal February will probably take you an hour or two to read, but it's fun! She appears to have backed her character in a corner as far as men choices, BUT there are quite a few secondary characters who could be developed.
Have you read hotel on the corner of bitter & sweet? It's a gotta read! I really enjoyed it --- about the japanese internment camps
Hi there! I'm just dropping by to welcome you to The 100+ Book Challenge. The idea of the group is pretty much self explanatory - try to read 100 or more books in a one year period. If you do have any questions, please feel free to send a message to me or Tenia. In the meantime, good luck reaching your goal!
You know I have to write little reviews so I remember the book. You have a much better memory for plots than I do. By the way, Jan also suggested I try Catherine Anderson. I went and read the backs of a few. When I'm done reading narrative nonfiction, I'll have to give her a try. I think you'd really enjoy Alligators, Old Mink & New Money too. It reads like fiction, I love it.
It was good to see u although didn't seem like i got to talk with you. Guess i should just call more often. Some how i missed the note about Shaffer's new book. Will add that to my shelf--- cause i don't really have anything I want to read (lol). Really enjoying J's visit... we've been putting together a puzzle. Hope you enjoy your vist to the IL gov's mansion.... ha!!! maybe you'll see him before he leaves office. Am reading one of Liz's pix... if you get a chance it My Enemy's Cradle, really riveting. Hope you had a great trip. Hilda
It was good to talk w/ you. Hope to see you this weekend. I'm working on Sat. so hopefully you'll come by the library. Have you read "mudbound"? by Hillary Jordan. It was an awesome book. May hold on to it. You can probably read it while you're in town. It's a 2 hr book for u. Have the merriest of Christmases--- and safe travels. See you soon Hilda
We are sort of involved in "the Big Read" this year through the Perry Library. For the last 2 years we have done a Greene County Reads book. Mary Weaver from Rippey applied for a grant, but this year her daughter-in-law who was the director at Audubon moved to the Perry Library and we are part of the out-lying area. We haven't been told yet what the book is, but should be interesting.
you probably know this since i didn't get back to you---- we don't have it & it is something by Carrie somebody!! How's that for information. jan had surgery on her toes this week, guess u know that too. Thanks for the parting glass --- think i'll ill.
I don't think i read the sequel to Whis. Isl --- wondered where you were getting news that our fav. authors had new books coming. thanks, once again for keeping me updated. Did you read After River. It is really diff. think you'd enjoy it. Great story!
