I agree with you, 2nd person narrative was very interesting, and I hope to read more books with the same.
Yes, I must say I quite enjoyed the book, definitely funny and with a youthful energy reminded me some of Bret Easton Ellis, but wasn't he one of the "brat pack gang" anyway?

I was anti-camera for a long time but came around to just seeing it as another tool. Taking my own photostock is also a benefit for use as reference which is the biggest benefit....plus there's a lot of fun toys to get when it comes to photography.
I'm still a bit elitist and do feel that photography is one of the "easiest" of the visual arts to get into for the beginner/untalented and still come out nice looking but i've grown mellower as I've gotten older...no need to get all riled up anymore. haha.

Cityscapes are like still-life paintings, sometimes interesting to make but not my preference. I do elements of both for my paintings but they generally aren't the focus of my work. I like do to most of the stuff out of my head, using reference elements when I need it.
I've only put up some of my digital stuff, none of my painting since those are usually commission work for private clients or personal stuff for potential shows/sales. I sometimes do limited print runs for shows local art festivals (art walk, comic con) type events but the margins are pretty thin doing that. I don't have a dedicated facebook/deviant art type page as I don't like losing control of my images...I'm a bit of a luddite that way, haha. I mainly do mailers or word of mouth for hunting up business.

I don't have anything at hand that would fit your needs, cityscapes and impasto techniques aren't really what I prefer to do not that I can't do them. I do other types of textural work but Van Gogh's style wastes too much paint, haha. Materials ain't cheap...you have to have money to be a starving artist. :)

Yeah, I sell stuff. My personal stuff is usually more Fantasy/surreal/figurative but I do private commission work in other styles.
What kind of stuff do you generally like?

Stick with East of Eden. Pynchon is so overrated, at least to me. East of Eden if f-ing amazing. You know, I don't recall Notes from the Underground at all. I read it my first year in college (or thereabouts). Maybe I will reread it...

Don't do it. Read "The Crying of Lot 49" first and see if Pynchon is your bag. That is, BY FAR, his most readable novel. It will be a good litmus test. V, Gravity's Rainbow, etc. are WAY out there and tough to wade through.

Well, I have only been able to read the first few stories and I LOVE them so far... I had the flu earlier in the week and it rendered me totally useless. Nothing like being sick in 100 degree heat. I will get back to reading your stories when I am 100% starting tomorrow...

I LOVED Play It As It Lays. I think you might like it, but I've been wrong with my recs to you in the past. It's a very quick read. Give it a go. It's definitely a modern classic. I read your story. Ten times better than the other one. Back on track!!
