I'm a native New Yorker and have lived here all my life. I grew up with cats and dogs (my parents were real animal lovers), and was fortunate to have good and loving parents who were also my friends. My Mom taught me to read by the time I was three, but it was my Dad who really jump-started my love for reading (which is ironic, because he hardly... more »

Hey Stu, Very nice to meet and welcome you to the Good Reads Cafe. I am also a native New Yorker whose parents were both lovers of reading, but it was my mom who had the most influence over what I read. Good to have you as part of the group.

Hi Stu, thank you very much for joining us at the Good Reads Cafe. Please introduce yourself to our Cafe members. Tell us about your favorite books and genres, and upload some of your books you liked. Look through our headings for your Discussions. I am trying to get us good writers in this group and we hope you will read us too. I write suspense/thrillers but we have other writers in several genres, they are on page #2. If you’re an Author, please check our requirements on pg 2 and add your name and website under your book genre heading.
    Best,
    Steven

Do you happen to use FF? I've found (if I notice it soon enough) that back-paging will show the text of the "mysteriously disappearing post" so that I can copy/paste it in again. Chrome and Safari don't seem to keep as detailed a cache history so it doesn't work for me using those browsers. (I have multiple Shelfari member IDs so I use a different browser for each.)

Otherwise, if you know you are going to be posting a lengthy and/or substantive item, writing it elsewhere and copying it to Shelfari can save you some grief. I don't really think this is a Shelfari problem because it doesn't seem to happen often enough to get the problem reporting on the support sites (except by me - the "official" Shelfari PITA.)

Who know. Computers....ain't day grand? Spent 30 years in the industry and I STILL want to cast mine through the window on occasion! LOL!

    Hi Stu,

Thanks for the note. Like DL I have no idea what happened. I never saw the post and I didn't delete it. I apologize for any cyber black holes that may have caused it. I hope you are able to reconstruct your comments, as we certainly welcome them. Regina

    Stu,

About your missing post on CROAH...

If an admin had deleted it, there would a notation to that effect. I don't know what happened but I, too, have experienced the "Case of the Missing Post." Not on CROAH but on several other groups.

Shelfari can't explain it and neither can I.

I'm sorry you have to go through the hassle of reposting!

No whining. Just annoyed with a man who thinks it is his duty to be a dad to people he has no relation to. I'm not your son. Be a father to your own kids.

There was no thin skin. I defended myself without getting personal and I did it intelligently. I was alone in defending my point of view but I could always count on you to try to criticize my ability to do so. I never personally attacked, never got abusive, never used vitriol, nor did I take a position of retaliation. As it stands, I've lost my interest in this. You'll probably take it personally but that is the way it is.
