I have a stack of books to read. As a busy mom, the books that most often get read are books I read with or to my kids or about raising my kids. Once in a while I can sneak in a book for fun. I thought a family site was more appropriate for us. These are books some of us have read or at least one of us has read. Aili needs her own site to... more »

I just got "The Shack" in the mail the otherday, and noticed you have it on your shelfari read list. I understood it was much more "spritual" than religious? Is that correct? What did you like about it?

Anna, If your family enjoyed "Number the Stars" such a great deal. You should all read together "The Diary of Anne Frank" It is a classic, and many students have it as required reading in school, but it is a good one for anyone to read more than once. I am sure you have probably also read it. Donna and I have also been to the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam, and it is a MUST to read for anyone visiting there. (as they may someday do so) The book was an inspiration and instrumental in changing the lives of inner city school children in the "Freedom Writers".

When / How do you read to all the kids? Before Bed time? On Saturday or Sunday afternoons? It seems like a great idea to read a book all together as a family like that? Do you and Rick do it together and take turns reading?

Once you start that series; you will be a "reader instead of doer" until you get done! It is so good...but not as good as the Chronicles of the Kings series. I got an e-mail from Mia about the Song of Sampo Lake...that is really good as well..especially for people of Finish backgrounds. Have a wonderful summer...doing and reading!
