Another book I keep on my desk at work. Makes for a great reference book and can help jog my brain to get out of an endless loop of similar designs. However, I find this isn't the first book I generally reach for to get inspired.

Another book on my desk at work to help jog creativity when it lapses.

This book inhabits my desk at work. When I lose my luster for ad design, I take a few minutes to thumb through the pages to refresh my creative juices. Love the use of sticky notes to illustrate the elements that work in the designs.

    Designing With Photos

've flipped through and browsed other photography books and was left feeling frazzled and not too bright. This book was not only charming and filled with amazing photography - the photos were all taken by amateur photographers who took photos like pros with inexpensive equipment available to most hobbyists. Excellent tips, tricks, and advice. It was easy to read...not only easy to read, but easy to understand. Also boosted my confidence in regards to being able to look and ask for what I want when I make my next digital camera purchase (which is hopefully soon!). Would recommend to anyone wanting to learn the art and craft of taking beautiful photographs or photo journaling. The book is not only affordable, but one I feel is written in a way that is accessible to everyone. I look forward to putting to practice the information provided in this book.

It's been awhile since I've read this. It was an interesting read. I flew through the beginning, but as the story progressed and Elfaba got older, my attentions began to wander and I started picking up other books instead. I thought it to be creative and imaginative, giving a possible and plausible history of the Wicked Witch from Oz's life. Of course, I think I also read things about Elfaba and the rest of the the Oz land that I'd probably just prefer to never have known or imagined. But hey...it was my child's mind that fell in love with the original, so it's no wonder that the more adult concepts where a little awkward and hard to take. This book is not one I'll be adding to my permanent collection. I read it once and once is enough. Like some movies, not a lot of re-read factor. Although, I'd be interested in seeing the musical.

While writing one night I noted that my old Bartender's Guide was dated. I using it back in the early 90's. While mixes may still be the same...names have changed. I found that out when attempting to order some things in lounges and bars. So to update me old guide for both writing and ordering purposes, I picked up this one to help keep me from being so darn dated. Easy to read. Easy to find what I'm looking for and easy to take with if you're on the go...unlike my other hardback and bulky one.

This book came as a recommendation from two very good friends and I'm so happy I picked it up. It was a most enjoyable read and beautifully crafted. Circus's have always sparked my imagination and getting a glimpse of perhaps some of the shadier aspects of the circus life as well as brushing up against the darker side of human nature. It was a thrilling ride. Plenty of characters to fall in love with in this novel and not all of them of the human variety. This was a great book and it was fun to have finished it over my birthday weekend while on vacation - it was the icing on my proverbial birthday cake.
