We'll never know what kind of trouble I could've gotten into had I not stayed put and read books for most of my life. Those titles on my shelf are mostly (not entirely) those that I read to "re-educate" myself after getting the university degree.
Oh, and I learned about Bukowski from one of my favorite bartenders AND co-workers when I was at wits end back in the 90s. Now, I mostly pass the time online, but when a book makes itself known, I am always thankful. Seems weird that I don't have three or four next to my bed at this point in my life, but all it takes is a suggestion or a trip down the street to a bookstore or library.
We have an exceptional library system here in St. Louis and I've passed many hours gleaning its stacks. « less
