I've always enjoyed reading... but I recently discovered that (now that I'm an adult, wife, and mom faced with the mundane sameness of routine life from day to day) reading is like a highly addictive drug. :) And I kind of like it that way!

I read some of everything, but have a soft spot for fantasy (esp. epic), magical realism,...more »

Dear Juani: If life's a little too mundane, maybe you would like my new thriller HUNTING THE KING. It will certainly get you out of your house for a while. The story revolves around a charismatic young woman named Molly O’Dwyer. Molly was five years old when she witnessed her mother's death in a fire. She never knew her father. After her mother's death, she was raised on the campus of a Jesuit college in Boston. Now an archaeologist, she is recruited to participate on a dig in war torn Iraq. As a scientist she is compelled to know who or what is buried under the sands of ancient Babylon. As a loyal Catholic, she is scared that what she finds may have devastating consequences for her faith. There is an awesome YouTube book trailer well worth watching to give you an idea of the power of the book. If you get the chance, I hope you'll take the time to watch it and let me know your feelings. Thanks. Peter

When are you going to stop reading children's books and get back to Martin?

PS. I like True Blood too.

Thanks for adding me as a friend Juani! We really do seem to like a lot of the same books. I saw some books on your shelf that I've read, but haven't added to my shelf yet. That Brotherhood of the Black Dagger series is fantastic isn't it? You should really check out L.A. Banks Vampire Huntress Legend series. It is insanely good and very addictive. The first book, The Minion is a little tame because it introduces you to all of the characters, but after that they really heat up.

And that is at curtis's house so i will be done with it this weekend. each book takes me about 45 min to read so not big as i thought they would be but definitely i want to see the movie afterwards. I love Mists of Avalon. It's hard to recommend to people because they think you're crazy when they see it. I felt just a little closer to god reading it. That was my favorite aspect of the book. It seemed to touch on the truth of everything like the author could see the truth just through the mist she writes about.

I totally agree about your review for Eyes. It is the greatest love novel I've ever read. That's why I don't bother reading love stories anymore. Hahaha.
