If you’re looking for that ultimate rush, and you want women that have the ultimate power theses four women in “Cosmic Beginnings” will fire it up:

For many moons the powerful one has sensed the arrival of a soon to be warrior from across the ocean destined to fulfill the ancient prophecy, while the priestess of the sacred drum releases the spirit of the lion to clear the way for the warrior to call upon her ancestors to help her complete a deadly rites of passage. She must call upon the deities of those ancestors to protect her as she seeks out captain Fatima Jatari to provide her safe passage into the notorious middle passage where the final battle must take place.

It is for Halloween! I had some really gory/scary ones and and I told some of the girls I could make it even scarier and so used the pic of Martha!!! She totally makes me feel inadequite, I heard she was even helping women in prison to learn to be domestic divas!!!

I have not read Moran's books but I have been looking at them. Totally my type of book! I think I will move them up on my TBR, thanks for the suggestion!!!

I didn't know you could take audio books out the library... I don't have a decent library close to where I live. I usually end up buying my books from Barnes & Noble or the used bookstore. They're closing down a lot of libraries where I live (Pittsburgh, PA) and a lot of people are really angry about, including me. They're closing one's that are more run down and inner city, instead of places where people can afford to buy there books. It's not even that, people can go to the libraries and use the computers and just hang out... now what are they going to do? Sorry for the rant, but I just think what's happening is total bs.

I'm really liking She's Come Undone. It's very raw at times and hard to face some things, but I like it. I was looking for something that would remind me of a Sarah Addison Allen book and thought this might be it... turns out it's not... lol but it's still really good. Go Oprah! Have you heard of this book Julia's Chocolates by Cathy Lamb? Now that really reminds me of something Sarah Addison Allen-esque.

Grrr! I hate that mean girl (can't remember her name)! I thought that The Heretic Queen was a lot more nerve racking because Nefertari has to fight to get the guy, instead of like in Nefertiti where Mutnodjmet is kind of on the side lines with all the court drama. What surprised me was that I found the court drama really suspenseful. I'm not usually one for that kind of stuff...

That's why I don't want to listen to an audio book. I'd much rather read the book myself and create my own version of how I hear the characters and everything. Not to mention, they're usually really expensive. I'm a member of Karen Marie Moning's message board and a lot of the women on there talk about some guy that reads the audio books for her highlander series and they're always saying he's "eargasmic". lol I might have to check those out though...

I have read The Secret Life of Bees and I thought The Mermaid Chair would be great as well. I read some reviews on it and, it's like you said, people thought it was okay and easy to put down. I'm going to read She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb, instead. It's on Oprah's Book List, so it can't be that bad!

Where are you in The Heretic Queen?

Haha! It was one of those books where the need to read it was some what of a sickness. I would be doing something around the house and think about the book and then be like, "alright, I'll just sit down for a minute and read a chapter or two." Then you find something else out and you have to keep reading and then something else happens. It's a vicious cycle. lol I've never listened to an audio book before...

Right after I sent you that last post I went on your shelf and found out you had already read them. I'm re-reading Sugar Queen now. I love Sarah Addison Allen's books so much. I'm convinced there's some sort of magic in them! I think her new book comes out March 26, 2010. It seems so far away! I noticed you have The Mermaid Chair on your shelf and I was thinking of reading it next. Have you read it? And if so is it good?

Outlander is great! Gabaldon's books are HUGE but they're so good and full of action and romance. I've read everything in the series up to A Breath of Snow and Ashes. I had started it, but it's one of those books where you have to really be in the mood for. I haven't bought the newest book yet either. I'm going to try to wait until it's out in paperback. The hardback is almost $30!

Are you planning on reading The Heretic Queen? It deals with Nerfertari and the struggles she has to go through trying to make people believe she isn't a heretic like Nefertiti. She's Muty's daughter. Like I said, it's a great book. I couldn't put it down.

Have you read anything by Sarah Addison Allen? I'm re-reading one of her books now, Garden Spells. I think you'd really like her books. Check them out!

I never would have picked up Nefertiti if it weren't for looking at some book recommendations from Diana Gabaldon, author of the Outlander series. Ever read them? I didn't know if I'd like Nefertiti at first because I'd never read anything about ancient Egypt, but I loved it so much from page one. And you're right, they're so hard to put down cause you have to know what's gonna happen! I loved Mutnodjmet and Nahktmin(sp?).

I finished The Heretic Queen a month or two ago. It was really good. Do you think that Moran's novels are really suspenseful? I'm always biting my nails when I read them!

Karen Marie Moning wrote them and they are SOOOOO good! There's been lots of discussions on shelfari about them as they are books that you can discuss forever. Lots of unanswered questions in each of the books and it's fun to come up with theory's. I'm glad that those who haven't read them yet are hopefully being encouraged to do so with it being a series we're reading for the group. I hope your able to get your hands on them! All but the last one are in paperback now and I think they may not be too difficult to get used or on paperbackswap if your on there. They are totally worth reading.

I think you'll love them both. Nora Roberts has 7 books in movies now:
Sanctuary, Angels Fall, Carolina Moon (really good), Blue Smoke, Montana Sky (good but changed way to many details), Tribute (good), Midnight Bayou (good but changed a lot), Northern Lights and Hign Noon (really good).

Angels Fall was a really good book... i got it the second it hit the stands!! Then again I do that with all her books! haha That book as also been turned into a movie.. but i wasnt really happy with how it turned out.. they left/changed a lot of important parts from the book to fit the 2 hour movie mark. But yes def read it!!!

Morgans Cross I think your talking about the Circle Triology with the Vampires, Witches etc??? That is in my top 5 favorite triologies of hers!!! Ive read it so many times and each time i cry in the 3rd book!!!!

I would also suggest the Three Sisters Triology... its about witches on a small island and it is SO good!!!
