I may be 53, but at heart I m still a horse-crazy girl. To fill the time between riding lessons, I teach English at Roger Williams University (Bristol, R.I.) and Bristol Community College (Fall River, MA), take care of my birds, gerbils, fish, and husband of 14 years, and read. My favorite kinds of books are murder mysteries and novels,... more »

Although I like this author's writing, I'm not a big fan of the supernatural. This story seems a bit contrived, possibly in an effort capitalize on the current werewolf/vampire/immortal being craze. It was just enough different that I actually finished reading the whole thing.

Another good story from this author. This is the first in the Irene Kelly series.

This was a fascinating story of an upbringing so unconventional as to defy belief at times. The behavior of the parents is completely appalling (reminiscent of the ones in I Capture the Castle), yet the lack of "normal" parenting results in kids who learn to become resourceful, self-sufficient, responsible, and open-minded. No sign of emotional or psychological damage, but perhaps those were purposefully left out of the picture. I really enjoyed this book.

Another really good read. More suspense than mystery, the story builds up to a satisfactory conclusion.

I had a hard time putting this down! I really like the way this author takes her time spinning out the story, even adding touches of (at times macabre) humor. Can't wait to read the rest of hers. I'm so happy to have discovered--at long last--a new author to "collect"!

This book disappointed me. The last book of hers featuring these characters I remember as being pretty good and I had been looking forward to reading this one. Don't know what changed...the way she writes, or my perception of it.

By far and away the best of the series.
