Hello! I have been fond of books as long as I remember. During childhood, I read fairy tales, children's classics and comics. I was also fond of Enid Blyton's mystery stories. During teen years, I read Agatha Christie , romantic authors like Georgette Heyer and the classics. Now, I read current bestsellers, authors like John Grisham, Jeffrey... more »

Not yet but I guess you made me to read it. I have only came across with history from little patches of different novels. It's interesting that fiction writers are always tried to bring their narration as close to reality as they can and historians are allegedly create fiction in their realities :)

    Salam!!!
How're you??? How're your Urdu readings going on??? I want to recommend an Urdu novel to you which I might categorize as this decade's best Urdu Novel. This is GHULAAM BAAGH by MIRZA ATHAR BAIG. If you happen to find it do grab a copy and I assure you that must be the weirdest and at the same time pleasant most experience of your life :)
And what're you reading I'm terribly stuck in Ulysses nowadays!
    Take care

Yes authors dragged on the story so it became quite boring. I beleive Jane Eyre is much better written. I prefer classic over modern novels...as i beleive they depict human feeling more sensitively than the modern writtings.

Well the Satanic Verses's hype is of course too much, a more academical or literal approach should be adopted by us against Salman Rushdie, but we're just good on non-conclusive protests. I don't know why Rushdie made such a fuss in Satanic Verses but one thing I admit every time I read him : God! he is a master of language, words just start gushing out of the book, swirling, woven intricately, complex and beautifully structured. But this made me to think either a writer should only be a good writer or he/she should be good human being too. A good human being might take care of others' feelings and emotions but Rushdie overruled this supposition. Some parts of this books are very offensive for Muslims and have a malicious motive of hurting them.
Midnight Children though has no issue as far as I read it. It's a good fiction,a fiction which you couldn't find anywhere else. The narration style, language, magical characters and places it describes are seems unbeatable.

I seem to have aquired a complicated form of Glaucoma which causes spiking interocular pressures. When they are high, especially in my right eye, I lose almost all my vision.
Both my parents lost their vision a number of years prior to their death, so I am always very cautious and take these symptoms very seriously.
I've had a number of treatments and some surgery, but they have only been temporary in their benefit. My current therapy seem the best to date, so I'm hangin' in.:)
Thanks for you concern. Thank God for the good days....LOL

Thanks so much for you kind note.. I am 'hanging in there' as much as possible. I just have to take shorter spells on my computer than I like, but I want to stay in touch so much. My eye condition has its ups and downs. Somedays it is hardly a problem so I cram in as much 'seeing' as possible.
I've never been a quitter LOL, so I will do anything it takes.
    God bless, Jay
