I LOVE, LOVE Jennifer Crusie’s books! After a hectic day at work and corralling kids – her books are like a hot bath, back massage with the happy ending! This book will make you laugh out loud and stay up in the wee hours to find out what’s going to happen next.
I would recommend reading this book for just the side characters alone. There is an older sister who has two different personalities, her ex hubby is gay, their daughter is a teen wise beyond her years. The mother, Gwen was probably my favorite character of them all (you just have to read it to see why). There was also the hot English side kick, an older and mysterious hit man, and the cutest, weird dog running around.
Crusie’s characters are so flawed - and that’s why you just love them. Davy is a con man, and Matilda has so many secrets in her closest that it’s making her crazy. Even their first love scene has awkward moments and is flawed. There is so much going on in this book from start to finish that I guarantee you will devour it just like I did.

If you like murder, mobsters, meat forks and mayhem you will LOVE this book as much as I did. Agnes and the Hitman is a roller coaster ride from start to finish. This book in one word is hilarious and it will be one book that I will soon not forget. So much stuff goes on in this book that it’s hard to cover it all without spoiling it. If you are a fan of the Stephanie Plum books this is like a steak to Stephanie’s olive and peanut butter sandwich. The writing is superb and the action is non stop.

I’m a fan of Crusie – she always has zany characters, so I’m guessing Bob Mayer’s contribution to this book is all the murdering. Just a note: in this book you will find, shootings, meat forks to the throat, old men getting run over, and everyone getting hit to the head with a frying pan. If you don’t care for dead bodies piling up then this is not the book for you. But hey, what do you expect when a book is full of old mobsters and their family.

To end my review –I have to say that Shane is probably one of the best hero’s that I’ve read about in a long time. He’s a hitman – enough said!

Robyn Carr is my Nora Roberts of romance, my go to author for a good book where you feel at home with the writing style and characters. I was super lucky to meet Robyn at RomCon this year and she gave me an ARC of this book. I was going to save this book for a snowy weekend to read, but just couldn’t wait and read it in September.

This is Denny and Becca’s story – for the readers who have read all of the Virgin River books Denny is the kid that his dying mom told him Jack was his dad. Denny’s been in Virgin River for awhile working at Jillian’s Farm and Jack’s bar. He did two separate tours in the war, and before going back the 2nd time he broke things off from his long time love Becca.

Becca plots to go to Virgin River with her brother to try and resolve things with Denny so she can move on with her life and boyfriend. Becca breaks her ankle and is forced to stay in Virgin River longer than her planned week stay. (I’m a huge sucker for stranded storylines). While staying in VR, she gets involved with the Christmas pageant and starts to help the kids with afterschool homework. She is an unemployed teacher, so this is her passion.

I think what I liked most about his book was first – no misunderstandings between Denny and Becca. When they had something to say, they said it and dealt with it. Second – I loved Becca’s mom. At first I thought she was going to be written a different way and was pleasantly surprised with how supportive and loving she was with Becca.

Of course many of the previous characters make appearances in this book but the best thing about it is that it can be read as a stand alone. In my opinion you don’t have to read all of the Virgin River books to enjoy this book.

I have one word for this book – HOT! I have to say that Dahl saved the best for last in this Donovan Brewery Trilogy. Before you read this book, I would recommend reading the short story “Just One Taste”. It’s found in The Guy Next Door anthology. It is the set up to this book were Eric and Beth have a one night stand as strangers.

This book picks up 6 months after Eric and Beth’s one night stand. Neither one of them can stop thinking about each other and then Beth runs into Eric at his bar. First they need to deal with the fact that during their one night stand Eric let Beth believe he was Jamie, his playboy brother. This book starts out with a bang, and really keeps running the whole way through. I pretty much read it in one day.

Beth is the manager of local lingerie, sex toy shop and Eric is part owner in a brewery. Throughout this book both are dealing with career/job changes. The storyline with the brewery has an arc throughout all 3 books, and I would say everything is resolved nicely in this last book.

Beth and Eric agree to keep their relationship a secret - and I think this is what adds spice to their many love scenes. Some fantastic, blow your mind love scenes are written in this book, and not just 1 or 2 of them. I would say read this book just for the sex scenes alone.

After reading this book – I pretty much have Victoria Dahl fever. I’ve been searching Amazon and her website for titles of her backlist books. I’ve read some of her historical romances and liked them, but now I’m a huge fan of her contemporary books. Don’t miss out on this trilogy!

    Reading order:
#0.5 – Just One Taste (Found in “The Guy Next Door”) - it’s only 100 pages long
    #1 – Good Girls Don’t (Tessa Donovan’s Story)
#2 – Bad Boys Do (Jamie Donovan’s Story)
#3 – Real Men Will (Eric Donovan’s Story)

So far this is the best addition to Dahl’s Donavon Family Series. I read Good Girls Don’t last week and really liked it and now I have to say that this book is even better. I connected immediately to Olivia. She’s 35, smart, conservative and joined a book club for fun. I thought hey, she sounds just like me. She had a little problem with playing the cougar to Jamie (he’s 29) but I was so glad that Dahl did not make this a big issue in the book. I loved in the first chapter when she’s secretly checking him out while he’s bending over while wearing his kilt. Yes ladies – this yummy man wears a kilt in the year of 2011! LOVE IT!

Speaking of Jamie – WOW what a hunk of a man. He’s gorgeous, fun, nice, has a bad boy felt and did I say wears a kilt? Jamie is secretly taking a college course in restaurant development and guess who the teacher is? Yep – smart, quit, glasses wearing Olivia. Totally not his type – but he’s drawn to her immediately. Jamie’s trying to turn around his bad boy rep by working on a plan to expand the brewery. There is so much tension between him and his older brother Eric, that Jamie is keeping almost everything a secret. How Jamie transforms in this book is so well written that I really couldn’t put down the book towards the end.

I’m looking forward to reading Eric’s book next. He’s so quit, a recluse and he’s got some kind of secret that was alluded to at the end of this book. I’m sure Dahl can redeem him, since in the last 2 books his been kind of a pain in the rear. Check out this series – you won’t be disappointed.

Luke Asher is a Detective in Boulder, CO on a case of a robbery at a local brewery. While at the crime scene he sees gorgeous brewery owner Tessa Donavan, who is the sister of his college buddy Jamie Donovan. Sparks fly between the two, but Tessa is warned off from Luke by her older brother, and he also tells Luke that his sister is still a virgin. Things don’t look good for Luke and Tessa to get together. Luke’s work partner is pregnant, and everyone thinks the baby’s Luke’s. He’s also trying to out live the rumor that he divorced his first wife after she was diagnosed with cancer. Things also go from bad to worse when both of her brothers are trying to protect Tessa from Luke.

When I first got this book I was very excited and curious to read it because I’ve read some of Dahl’s historical romances and really liked them. I loved that this book is set in Boulder, CO which is only 30 minutes from my home. Here in CO we have tons of inside jokes about Boulder, and it was nice to read a book set in that location.

I really connected with Tessa at the beginning of the book – she was funny, cute and had a great relationship with her brothers. I loved the scene where she and Luke are getting it on and he puts the breaks on because he thinks she’s a 27 year old virgin! The chemistry between these two really makes this book a great read. I do have to say that some of Tessa’s choices at the end of the book are what made me down grade my rating from a 5 star to 4 star. Basically she broke off things with Luke because of something he kept from her and throughout the whole book she kept a HUGE secret from her brother about the brewery.

Luke is a super good guy who just wants to protect his work partner. By doing this, he shuts his mouth on issues and it sometimes makes him look like a jerk. Everyone in his office thinks he’s the father of his partner’s baby, and he doesn’t deny it. I was kind of confused by this at first, but it really played out well in the end. Luke Asher really made this book for me. Loved his character – he was super hot in and out of bed.

The writing style of Dahl is easy flowing and witty. So glad I picked up this book, and am very excited to read the next book (Bad Boys Do).

This book starts out with young nurse Samantha Wickersham at a job interview for the position of taking care of return soldier Gabriel Fairchild. Wounded at war, Gabriel is now blind and in a state of anger and despair. With two previous nurses leaving the job just as fast as they started it, Samantha knows she has her work cut out for her. Gabriel is stubborn, angry and throws tantrums throughout the house by way of shouting and breaking things. Samantha has a way of putting him in his place and she breaks through his pain by helping him adjust to his new blindness. Samantha is running from a secret from her own – with her secret being a great twist to the story.

This is my first time reading Medeiros – and not my last. This is one of those books that you read in one sitting or stay up all night to finish. The banter back and forth between Gabriel and Samantha is so smart and well written. You can’t help feel for Gabriel in this book – he was left at the hospital by his finance and his mother feels it would have been better if he died in the war. I think what I really loved about this book was the love that Gabriel’s household staff had for him. His family left him in a large secluded mansion to live out the rest of his life, so the staff and his new nurse became his family.

Most readers will figure out Samantha’s secret early on, but I think this adds to the book. If you don’t figure it out, I guarantee you will be flipping back pages to reread certain parts of the beginning. There is only one part in this book that prevented me from giving it an A+, but it’s a spoiler so I can’t reveal it in this review.

This book ended up being a wonderful surprise, so glad I read it. I promise you it will make you laugh out loud and shed a tear or two.

Claire LaCuyer is an ex-cop turned Private Investigator. She’s on a case to find a run away mom who frequents sex clubs. Claire’s also on the look out for a stalker whose possibly raped other women and now has Claire in his sites.
FBI Special Agent Michael Murrieta is on the case to catch the stalker/rapist. Michael follows Claire to the “Plantation Ball” (aka, sex party) with hopes of protecting Claire and catching the stalker.

I love Harlequin’s Blaze series books – most of the authors that write for this line are very good and the books make for a nice quick read. This book earns the right to carry the “Blaze” name. Let’s just say that there is a scene at the party where the hero and heroine are voyeurs to a threesome! The chemistry between Claire and Michael is off the charts hot, their love scenes together are worth reading the book alone.
The storyline about the stalker was good; it kept me reading to find out what he was going to do. I would say the best part about that storyline is Michael’s brother, Danny. I was really intrigued with the Murrieta Family Ancestry, the “Famous Lover Legend”. I just wish there was more of it in the book.

Overall this is a great summer beach read and I will be reading more books by Leto.

This novella is a great start to a unique and different Paranormal Romance/Sci Fi series. Being a child of the 80's, the first thing I thought of when reading it was that it has a Terminator kind of feel to it (which I love). Alexa is a member of the Taken - which in her case is the 1st born daughter in a long line from her family. She is sent back in time to prevent a "bug" being released in the world that kills everyone. Her instructions are to kill the scientists who created this "bug". One of the scientists is dreamy Luke Harrison -and of course sparks fly between them the moment she arrives. *Note: pretty steamy love scenes in this book.

I don't want to give any spoilers because this is a nice, quick read. I do have to say that it is a different twist on the Paranormal Romances that I have been reading lately. No blood suckers or shape shifters in this one. Alex does have one of my favorite super hero powers - the gift to become Invisible!

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
