I am a reader with very catholic taste (note the lower case..) It would not be unusual to find Viz magazine and The God Delusion on my bathroom floor. I know which I turn to for radical free thinking... more »

She is a REALLY busy lady these days actually. Right now she is in the midst of the planning for the big IYA party, I know she hired George Hrab to be the entertainment. If you go on her blog, maybe you can find her current e-mail. I run into her now and then on chat, but it has been a while, she has been very out of pocket with the planning for IYA.

I am sure she got your note of praise, but just has been unable to get around to forming a proper response. :|

I would say yes they are, especially someone like Plait, he is now the man in charge of the JREF, and his Bad Astronomy is very well known. Pamela Gay is in charge of the International Year of Astronomy, which is starting in 2009. So, she has a bit of a following as well, especially when you factor in the Astronomy Cast. :)

Great selection - I agree about 'taking off' but then I would, I wrote it!

Had a friend who left me about 30 virago books. going through them - fascinating. just reading a woman's answer to 'All's quiet on the WEstern Front - 'Not so Quiet' - a shocking expose of ambulence workers in the first world war - talk about horror literature! And with humour....

Welcome to the Chiller group! Right now, our authors for the month of July are Richard Matheson and James Herbert. Feel free to read any of their books and post what you read, your review, etc. in the thread for July reads. If you do not want to participate that is fine too, just letting you know what is going on. There are also some other threads I want to tell you about. Introduce yourself, where you just tell all of us a little about yourself, a game of 20 questions is going on if you want to jump in there, a thread is also going until July 11 for nominations for our author/authors for the month of August is you want to nominate anyone. Once nominations have closed at noon Friday, Katie (Diamondgirl) will post a link where everyone can go and vote anonymously for our August author. The poll will be open for one week. The results will be posted the day after so that everyone who wants to participate can get the author's books if need be. There is a thread where members give away their books to other members. Also, we are having a contest until July 11 at noon for a new group avatar. It can be something from online, or something you design. They should be emailed directly to Katie at kateim63116@gmail.com and please put Chiller in the subject line so she knows what it is for. The winner will be chosen by the group admins and will get a gift card to Amazon.com. Any questions at all just ask, same for suggestions or ideas. If you would like to be added to the list of people that receives group update notes, please add Diamondgirl as a friend and leave her a note letting her know that you want Chiller updates.

I am mostly reading Bearded Tit by Rory McGrath which is a good light read, with only minor birding errors.
