I am a 40-something mother of 3 gorgeous grownup children, and lucky wife to one in a million. I fell in love with books and words listening to my mother's voice as she read all the classics which, in my childhood included, Winnie-the-Pooh, Wind in the Willows, Narnia and Milly Molly Mandy. My journalist father contributed to my love of words too, if I asked him the meaning of a word the answer came complete with definition and etymology, so that I could learn the construction of language as well as its power.

I love working with books too, libraries have their own smell that I just can't get enough of and just being in the presence of large spaces filled with books inspires me. How lucky I am to have been employed in libraries of one kind or another for nearly 30 years (not including my time as library monitor at school).

As a mature age student I'm just finishing a degree in English at the University I also work for (in the library of course) and trying to decide what to to education-wise next. Maybe I'll just have some time off and read... « less
