I'll respond to both notes at once:grain de beaute: Wow! Your Thesis! How cool is that?! Even beyond that, who has time for depressing books, anyway?Heather: I don't generally like vampire stories, but I'm always open to new genres. Sometimes we can find real gems among stories we wouldn't normally read.
Yup. That's why I'm asking what other shelfari readers think about the books I want to read. I have a copy of The Bell Jar but I haven't started reading it because my thesis is taking up most of my time. ^.^Thanks for the reply laura s~! Have a nice day! Happy reading! ^.^
Yeah, they are. Bestsellers. Vampire books, set in high school. I don't really like any other vampire books, so if you like the standard vampire book, you might not like them. But they are pretty popular. The author is Stephenie Meyer. Book #4 is coming out tomorrow night at midnight. She's a real good storyteller. People tend to get all wrapped up in her characters. I've enjoyed them.
No...I'm not sure I've even heard of them. Are they good?
Laura, have you read the Twilight books?
Good to know. If it's depressing, I'll steer clear. My life is too hectic and stressful to purposely get depressed. I don't read those kind anymore. I'm sure I miss out on some well-written books, but there ya go. Self preservation.
Laura,Did you enjoy "Slaughterhouse Five"? That's one I've been curious to read, but I don't know that much about it.
Laura! I'm so glad you're on this site. I love it! It's fun to get in discussions about books with other members! Of course, I'm a voracious reader, so I love talking books with a good friend!
