Hi Joana, thank you for inviting me. I really like this, especially that I am now running out of books so this should really help!

Good to hear from you! Sorry to be so remiss in communicating - but I've been swamped. My favorite book of late is Bruce Perry's "The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog". It is on the impact of acute trauma on children, from a neurosequential development perspective.

I've read the first chapter. I got a little carried away with the interlibrary loans recently and now I have quite a stack. We had a birthday party for Landon today and I didn't COOK. I even BOUGHT the cake (gasp). Consequently, the houseis relatively clean so maybe I can read a few extra chapters of my enormous stack.
Did you read my review? ;) Says that there are 5 factors for this phenomenon that people are starting to notice.School teaching methods that favor girls, video games, societal changing attitudes toward masculinity, plastics in our lives, and long term effects of behavior drugs for ADHD etc. Of course I have 4 of the creatures so it is very salient for me, but it really is fascinating. You can see the problem everywhere. I think everyone knows of or is related to a man-boy that won't grow up, won't take on life, spends his money on "toys" instead of getting married etc. Last time I checked it was still in hardcover and we are poor, but I did get it from the library.

hi joana,i just logged in and have not had a chance to put anything in my profile. i just heard about the books by thomas cahill, have you read his books? my girlfriend in atl. really likes him and says he also gives very good lectures. she recently saw him in atl. doing an art history lecture. i'm currently reading my oprah magazine and quantum health, a book to motivate me to get up and move, eat better and try to stay motivated in the 90 heat! hopefully it will jump start me. i'll let you know if i like it. thanks for inviting me. jennifer
I think I read it since I saw you last. I talked about it to people all over the place for weeks. It was rather embarrassing but it's a fascinating idea. In fact, the principal at the Calimesa SDA school made some off hand comment about boys being less motivated these days and we told him to read this book! I am waiting for a cheap copy so I can have my own; the one I read was from the library.Fun website!
