Hello, book world! I am happily married with 2 wonderful kids (17-boy, 12-girl). I work as a legal assistant for a couple of attorneys. I have many, many interests and never enough leisure time. However, I always make time for reading, my very favorite way to recharge after a long, stressful day. I enjoy a variety of genres. I'm always on... more »

I finished the Screwtape letters the other day. It was REALLY good! Kinda scary too. You see a lot of average ordinary thoughts about life that seem to pull you away from your faith without you even realizing it. When I saw it in the context from the other side....my jaw dropped and thought WOW!! Lewis is an awesome writer. Amazing.

That's cool. I am actually almost done with it. I have been sidetracked by the t.v. and myspace. It really is good though. I will have to look into that other book you suggested. I will recommend to my mother too.

Thanks for the friendship request. Yes, I did write those poems. I found that during Dad's illness and subsequent death, writing was very cathartic

I have never read the Screwtape letters before and I am halfway through it now. I am sooo amazed at how he could put himself in that frame of mind. My mom told me that C.S. Lewis was an atheist before he had his eyes opened to God. My mother has read all his books except this one. LOL I am liking it so far. Wow is all I can say. Really is opening my eyes to a couple of things.
I have no idea about that other book your trying to describe. Sounds like it would be interesting though. Will get back to you, when I am done. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow at the latest. =)~ Happy Reading!!

Ya know what on "Wicked", I just couldn't get into it. After four pages I gave up. I mentioned this to someone and she said for me to pick it back up. It's a hard read but worth it. So...that's what I'll do....one day :)

I'm really tempted just to go and see the show. The show is always a sell out. Tons of people coming in and out at the theatre. So it must be good!!

I haven't read either of those books, although I've heard Tithe mentioned a number of places. And Hunter's Moon looks interesting. I just finished Donna Jo Napoli's Beast and thoroughly enjoyed the book which is told from the Beast's point of view. I just picked up Curse as Dark as Gold by Elizabeth Bunce, I heard the author read from it and it looks like a very interesting take on Rumpelstiltskin.

I've noticed that a lot of the fairy tale retellings coming out are listed as YA (it doesn't stop me either). Cameron Dokey, whose books I've fallen in love with is also a YA author.

Hmmm...I didn't read Enchanted Afternoon. Sounds like one I can miss. I read some of Susan Wiggs' early stuff and enjoyed them: The Lightkeeper, Passing Through Paradise, Home Before Dark (that one was really good). I'll have to see if I can find Lakeshore Chronicles.

It always surprises me when there are more NR books I haven't heard about yet. I thought I'd at least heard of them all and read most. Arizona Brides is new to me...I'll take a hint from your comments and pass on that one in favor of some others. So many books, so little time!

I just finished "Rose's Daughter" last night. I haven't decided what to read next; I have a whole stack of books to choose from. I'm still intrigued by fairy tales (the July genre for the Play Book Tag group). I'm thinking I may read "Tithe," by Holly Black next. It looks short but fun. I also checked out "Wicked" from the library. I've been intrigued by that one for quite awhile. I fulfilled my fairy tale book assignment for the group for July, but I figure as long as it's still July, I might as well stick with the current genre. I'll switch when they do next month. I kinda like the self-imposed structure.

Included in my current stack of "To Be Reads" are a couple of books by Laurie Halse Anderson. I learned about Anderson's books from a YA Book Critic (a myspace friend) who highly recommends them, so I thought I'd check 'em out and see if they are books that my daughter would enjoy. I read a lot of books for youth with my daughter in mind.

Yea, I really like Susan Wiggs more current work. I read Charm School and liked it, but tried to read Enchanted Afternoon or something and didn't like it. I loved the new stuff. Lakeshore Chronicles.
wow, I'm still on the fence about Outlander. I will probably read it, but I will finish some of the challenges I'm in, and read it, when I have nothing else going on.

What are you reading now? I'm suffering from literary ADD. I'm reading 3 books at the same time. 2 for the Summer REading Challenge and the other just cuz. I've given up on River's End by Nora Roberts. I just can't get through it. Ugh! I also gave up on Arizona Brides. As a matter of fact, I mailed that one to a Paperback swap person today. I just didn't care what happened in the story. Sad!!

Yea, I dig NR. I'm enjoying Susan Elizabeth Phillips right now.
the Car thing didn't happen to me. I think it was on purpose by some Iowa State students or something like that. I just found the pic, and thought it funny.

I would call The MK Daughter a very enjoyable book with my definition of enjoyable being stretched to include books that make me think in depth about the storyline, feel for the characters, and get completely caught up in the pages! I agree with you about just wanting David to fess up but I couldn't help but hate that Norah seemed to get off scot-free at the end even though she was guilty of many things also. Overall, great book.

You are completely right about TITTM. If you are interested, sign up on the discussion thread entitled Sign up for Tag it to the Max and againstthetide (the administrator) will assign you your starting tag. Make sure you browse the rules that I mentioned earlier because there are a couple of rules explained that you will need to know.

Sorry that your first fairy tale choice didn't pan out. :( I just got the Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales at the library and it is a little intimidating! I might need to develop a schedule to get that one finished! lol If you have any other questions let me know!
